So, it is better not to expect too much from this hotel. Very simple and not very clean, even if compared to other structures in other town of Southern Ethiopia (e.g., Soddo, Arba Minch). However it is more or less the only choice in Jinka...

Spend two nights here as part of a a tour of the south. The road near the resort is half blocked due too the collapse of a bridge and the area is a mess. The room was very basic and various items were not working. Dinner was very limited and breakfast was worse. No fresh juice, very little fresh fruit, no yoghurt just eggs. The bar would only serve imported gin if we bought the entire bottle. It wouldn't be hard to improve the service and look of the place but I had the impression no one really cared. Why can they not service fresh fruit when there is plenty at the market?

To escape from these small local hotels with music in the evening and no toilet except a whole in the ground, this place is the only alternative at a reasonable price. The rooms are big, the bed is big, it is a silent area, reception works very well, staff also Ok.
Breakfast very poor, no butter, only this orange jam which comes out of your ears and overpriced.
It looks also all a little bit old, but maintained.
No electricity ones the generator of the town stops in the evening and in the morning.
Call it a hotel, but surely not a resort.

Had a bad experience, turned up with guide who had paid for two rooms for two nights at the Jinka Lodge to be informed that the Government had made the owner cancel all the paid for rooms - 36hrs notice - to house officials who were inspecting a sugar factory in the area. The Eco Omo Lodge (luxury tents) had to do the same also so we ate at Eco Omo and had breakfast before the officials arrived - Jinka Lodge didnt even offer us a drink! Only 1star hotels left in Jinka at such short notice. Very disappointed to be treated in this way as visiting tourists by Ethiopian government. Only stayed in Jinka for one night instead of two so not a great experience. Apparently I hear this can happen regularly so be prepared in case it happens to you.

It must be noted that Jinka is deep in the south of Ethiopia. The rooms are small and our room was damp (other rooms were perhaps not) the shower worked and the water was hot. Note the electric is turned off at night and you will need to wait 30 minutes for the water to heat in the morning after the electric comes on again at 6.30.
The grounds, as in most southern Ethiopian hotels I have experienced were unfinished with uneven with unlit paths.

The restaurant/bar is basic, but the service is extremely friendly and a nice environment. All the members of staff appeared to really care. The food was a la carte, but basic. I found the food to be excellent. The fresh fruit smoothies they make are out of this world.

I would definitely stay here again if perhaps not in the same room. The rooms in the middle of the compound are best.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the middle of the compound.

When we stayed here the place was almost empty. The rooms are large, cleanish and the beds a bit old but comfortable. The bathroom was actually very nice with toilets that flushed and an enclosed shower. The room had no water because the city had turned off the water. But the hotel had their own water storage and quickly filled our tanks. We had to wait about 40 mins before we could shower.
They have a nice bar. The Restaurant tries but really needs a good cook. I couldn't eat much of the food they served because it was just awful.
The service was o.k. They did try but they need more instruction on how to run the place. I suggest you try the Hanna Lodge- we never stayed there but it looks nice.

Room Tip: Bring a torch. The electricity goes out early. In the cafe order only Ethiopian food-they simply can...
