called in for lunch 26/11/13. Not many people in but it was late afternoon. The place was warm and friendly, and the food on offer is undoubtedly the best in the area. We visit the area twice a month and have had lunch in most of the pubs over the years. This one was suggested to us and i'm glad we gave it a try it's brilliant. The food is freshly cooked served on warm plates. The 2 for £12 deal is not to be missed, and the portions are huge. Friendly staff make it the place we'll visit from now on whenever we're in the area. Driven past it lots of times and not noticed it, thought it was the entrance to a garden centre.

Run of the mill, pre-prepared pub grub reheated in microwaves and steamers so it is bland and pretty tasteless. Other reviewers might care to ponder how they think that 'slow roasted lamb Henry' can appear on their plates in 20 minutes if it is 'freshly cooked' as many of them claim. 'Slowly braised pork ribs'; roast chicken; liver and bacon casserole; cottage pie; curries and lasagne all appear on the menu but could not possibly be freshly cooked and served in the time available as all require at least an hour to cook. Other customers might be safer trying the range of grills available as they at least must be cooked from scratch.
A shorter menu using quality ingredients might well set this pleasant place apart from all the usual chain restaurants. The staff are friendly and efficient and the management is trying very hard but are let down by the food. As it is, I'll choose to give it a miss as there is much better food available in several places nearby.

I went to The Cheshire Line early evening for a meal with my mum who is in her 80's. It was superb, mum had the cod and polished off the lot, I had the Lamb Henry and once again it did not disappoint. It was beautifully cooked. The lady that served us was lovely, perhaps the manager.. she was friendly and chatty. 2 down points, I think the sauces should be served in dishes rather than the sachets, but its no problem really I suppose. However we entered by the corner door nearest the car park and walked into the middle of a funeral party. My mum doesn't walk very fast so it was a little awkward. I would rather have seen a notice telling us to use the other door than walk into such a private gathering. Having said that I will most definately return and would recommend anytime.

Despite it being so busy and alot of tables reserved, the staff were excellent and found us a seat, our meal was out in record time with no taste of it being rushed. Two rump steaks an a bottle of wine £19. We both say it was one if the nicest steaks ever, cooked to perfection and with the nicest staff i have ever come across this place is well worth a visit
