“The most wonderful place we have rented!”
Reviewed 19 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This house is fabulously decorated and amazingly well appointed. Everything you could think of is here and its location by a boulangerie (yum!!) and a few steps from the best pizza in the world help. We loved every minute here and hope to return. This is a 3 floor stone house where the top floor's seating room opens out on a patio with a view of Segouret....the wonderful medieval village you can walk to. The owners of this place are wonderful to work with and totally willing to discuss anything with you. My only caution would be for the elderly or those with difficulty with stairs as they are a bit steep. Also, the third floor bedroom has no bath and you must return to the second floor for the bathroom. Nonetheless this is just the best place we have been and we plan to return!!!!!!!

Management Response
26 Oct 2016
I am very happy to say that an additional bathroom was added to the third floor of "La Trouvaille" in 2016, so it is no longer necessary for couples to share a bathroom or for guests to go up or down stairs in the middle of the night!

“Idyllic Village House”
Reviewed 21 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

As promised, La Trouvaille was spacious, charming, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and wonderfully located. Special mention must be made of the super comfortable beds - a must after a full day of exploring the sights! The booking process was simple and all communication with our hosts was clear, concise and thoroughly delightful. We were sorry that we were unable to meet Deb and Gary, but their lovely friends provided a warm welcome and were most helpful. I really hope to stay again if possible as Sablet and the surrounding area is wonderfully scenic and there is so much to see and do. We loved the markets at Bedoin and Vaison-la-Romaine and drove deep into the Drome and over the Rhone to the Ardeche where there are some interesting villages ( Balazuc and Vogue in particular) and the river gorge is superb. We visited many other villages in the area and even made the trip south to the Pont du Gard. . A highlight was a late afternoon walk through the vineyards to Seguret and viewing the spectacular sunset over the Rhone Valley from this high vantage point. We often prepared meals in the well-equipped kitchen and made the most of the delicious local produce and of course the local wines. A week is not enough time in Sablet! La Trouvaille is a special house and I have no hesitation recommending it to others. Thank you for a wonderful week!

“Perfect place to take it easy”
Reviewed 22 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

On arrival everything was perfect!! Easy parking, quiet but great location to restaurants, small supermarket, village shops and of course the essential patisserie. Central location to many attractions in the area and our week long stay was just not long enough!

What a wonderful introduction to Provence. A beautifully decirated villa apartment with everything provided, set in the village square if a lovely little village just 40 minutes from Avignon. The previous reviews give accurate accounts of this well appointed and beautifully decorated home with thoughtful hosts. This is the perfect place for people trying self booked accommodation for the first time ... it is the best we have ever stayed in and was made so easy. An awesome home and base for some memorable exploring. The fabulous market and historic town of Vaison de Romaine just 20 minutes away, the breathtaking drives and views of Mont Ventiux (30 minutes) through to Avignon's castled city and historic bridge. The lavender region of Sault and the beautiful Abbe Senanque 45 minutes away, despite us getting just a little lost. We managed 2 last excursions which had a huge impact, the first was the glorious Mediterranean seaside town of Cassis, 2 hours, small but well worth the time. And finally the worlds best roman aqueduct, crossing the upper reaches of the Rhone river, Pont du Gard. Spectacular. Wonderful memories to keep us going until we can return to see more that this wonderful region has to offer. Thank you so much for making this such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

“We felt like we were at home. . .”

We arrived on a beautiful sunny afternoon and after parking our car, we were greeted by the very friendly caretaker. She showed us around and explained how everything worked. We picked up a shopping bag by the front door and then just a few steps out the door and to our right and we arrived at VIVAL market to stock up on supplies. Madame Fabre doesn't speak English but she was very patient with my poor French and pantomime. A few more steps to the BOULANGERIE for baguettes and pastry. Retracing our footsteps and stepping inside our door with our full shopping bag we felt like we were at home.

The kitchen is very well equiped (including a microwave & dishwasher) and we cooked in on most days then ate at the large dining table in front of the fireplace. Just out the door and a few steps to the left is another BOULANGERIE, Madame Pradier greeted us there. A few steps more and there is the BOUCHERIE, the butcher Monsieur Bonfils, also understands pantomime and cut perfect lamb chops for us. Thursday morning the Fish vendor's truck parked near Vival market. If you point to the fish that you want and say how many persons, you will receive a correct portion. There was a cheese vendor stall set up there too but Vival also has a good selection of cheese and other deli items. On Friday a small market with fruits, vegetables, roast chicken and other stalls, set up on the parking square across the street. There is a small casual restaurant/bar here also. The ATM is just inside the CA (Crédit Agricole) office. The Creperie has closed. The tourist office has moved down the street near the TABAC and offers tastings of the local wines.

DOMAINE de PIAUGIER is a short walk away. Sofie & Jean-Marc Autran, owners/winemaker make good wines from their vineyards in Sablet and Gigondas at reasonable prices. Sofie speaks perfect English and may offer you a tour of the winery.

"The hole in the wall" terrace is a very special spot. We enjoyed the view, the breeze, our wine & cheese and the music (French love songs that we brought along). PERFECT! There is a large sitting room here with sofa and chairs but the terrace beckoned just beyond the French doors.

The main bedroom is large with the adjoining sittingroom with comfortable sofa, chairs and widescreen TV. Lots of closets. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is large with lots of storage, 2 sinks, WC and a large tub with hand-held shower and curtain. The towels are fluffy and everything is clean and well cared for. The only disadvantage is that those staying in the other bedroom (terrace level) will have to come down one flight of stairs to use the bathroom in the night.

There is another large "entertainment" room just off the kitchen. There is a big wide/screen TV here as well as a communication center (wifi, skype, telephone, printer). This room can also sleep 2 people on a pullout bed. Guests will have to go up one flight of stairs to use the bath/shower. There is a small room with WC only and beyond that is a large laundry room with a sink, mirror, washer and dryer. There is also an area with a big table that you can use to fold laundry and another big closet.

We do think that it is best to not have mobility issues to enjoy your stay here because of the stairs, The bathroom (2nd level) must also be shared beause there is only one tub/shower. WC is on 1st & 2nd level, Sleeping on 1st, 2nd & 3rd level. We loved our stay and wish that it could have been longer. This is a delightful house in a charming village of warm, friendly caring people. You hosts will do whatever is possible to make your stay comfortable.
