It is not often that I review a dive operation, since I find their services typically lacking.
However, Sodwana Bay Lodge has impressed me on every occasion.
I have not seen dive masters work this hard underwater and on land in a very long time.
The accommodation was top class. Clean, well maintained and comfortable (even for two).
The food was good. A nice variety.

We had been to Sodwana Bay before but somebody recommended to should try Sodwana Bay Lodge.
We arrived to a log cabin with contained 2 beds, shower en suite, small fridge and coffee making facility.
Breakfast was delivered to the Dive Centre at the Beach (what a treat) and was a lekker combination of food.
Supper was a selection from the menu.
The owner called on each of us at dinner time and ensured all was to our expectation.
If you are a diver organize an early dive on your check-out day as the normal check out time is 10am. We managed to extend the check-out time but one is at the mercy of the skipper of course.
Yes, we will be back at this lodge next time we are diving at Sodwana. Have been to other dive lodges but this comes out 10/10!
The Dive Centre is also tops and we really had the feeling that they go out of their way to please us! Just bear in mind that they close for lunch. Ben, the manager called during our drive up and enquired about our dive plans to ensure that the paper work is done prior to the dive!

I visited the lodge with my family and went diving almost every day. The staff at the dive centre are super friendly and you are looked after superbly from the moment you enter the dive shop to make your booking. You get a phone call every day to confirm the next day's dives and you get all your equipment cleaned and carried for you. The dives are beautiful and are done professionally.

We rented the Top House in the Lodge resort.

On arrival the house was not ready yet (we arrived at 12:00) and only got into our house at 14:00.
You are required to pay a R130 for the key, but you only get R100 back (so you loose R30 immediately.

The wooden chalet was large enough for a family of four. The beds were comfortable and had fresh linen. However the decor was really dated and tacky.

Broken and missing louvres on the windows, ripped mosquito gauze, non working light plugs, rattling old doors, and dates crockery made it all look very old.

The Lodge has two swimming pools, the one furthers away was the closest and it was in a quiet part of the resort. The other swimming pool is by the restaurant which can get rather packed in summer.

The resort is very safe, and you can feel very comfortable and secure.

No open fires or pets allowed.

House 49 is highly recommended. Has all the amenities you could ask for. From the booking date all was efficiently handled. The house was clean and well maintained. Great venue to accommodate divers coming to dive at Sodwana.

This resort has seen better days. Everything is a bit old fashioned. Nevertheless we had a nice and spacious lodge. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Service leaves something to be desired. Breakfast is OK. In low season you can feel a bit lonely.

Stunning lodge, everything you need local and near by (including thankfully for us a good local doctor).

Most of our time was spent scuba diving so we spent considerable time on the beach and in the ocean. Feeling exhausted in the evening it was fantastic to come back to a clean and beautiful resort to just chill out.

Some of the food isn't to everyone's taste but that is travelling for you! We felt safe and secure at all times, and enjoyed the comfortable feel of the private cabins/chalets.

Would love to come back.
