“Lovely spring break”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

Great guesthouse and hospitality. Welcoming, warm, cosy and clean. Well run by Alan who is very nice and a talented cook with impressive flair for flavours, such as raspberry Tia Maria or blackberry amaretto creme brûlées. Perfectly positioned for ingleborough and its cave.

Room Tip: All rooms have their own bath or shower room.

What can I say, the weather was awful, and after a very, very long drive to arrive and check-in, to what seemed like a home from home was amazing.

Beautiful and clean room, comfy bed plenty of heating.

Then we had dinner, what can I say. It was amazing. I have eaten in many restaurants around where I work in Mayfair and all I can say is the food is easily on par with some of the better restaurants, and even better- it was reasonably priced. My wife even asked to have desert sent up to her room after we had finished as she couldn't resist the smell when she walked past the kitchen!

Thank you for a lovely stay, we hope to see you again one day, hopefully when the weather isn't quite so bad!

Just returned from a couple of days stay for New Year. Really nice rooms. The only thing we would change would be to add a second easy chair as the lounge facilities are limited. As far as food is concerned all 4 of us agreed the only word to use is excellent. Altogether a delightful stay in a lovely village.

Just got back from a wonderful stay and must be a stone heavier! Alan's food is some of the best I have ever tasted. On arrival we could smell something wonderful cooking and was shown to our room White Scar, which had a super kingsize bed and a great window seat for the fantastic view of Clapham village. The bathroom was huge with nice complimentary toiletries and fluffy white towels and robes. The room was immaculate, comfy and warm no faults. We had made a reservation for an evening meal and the menu choice was excellant. The waitress service was faultless and the food arrived promptly. Our 3 courses of 5 star food and a bottle of rose cost just £53!!!! There was even locals dining with us. We will definately go back. Advertised as Claphams little secret....not anymore we will tell everyone about our stay.

Room Tip: Try and request White scar for the super kingsize bed and window seat.

We are here now on our second night of a 4night special break for our wedding anniversary. Its a long time since we experienced such wonderful food and comfort.I really dont know how Alan does it.
You notice the wonderful aroma of good food as soon as you arrive. Dinner and breakfasts are fantastic.
We are staying in the room with the adjacent bathroom. This is no problem whatsoever and we request this room again.
I just hope we can get in because the feedback is 100% which is great for Alan which he fully deserves. Morecambe makes a great day out but go via Carnthorpe as Lancaster is a nightmare!

Arrived on the 6 September for our Anniversary weekend (the 7th September in case the wife reads this). Left on the 9th September 2012.
Has to be one of the best B & B's we have stayed in - thanks to you Alan and the girls!!
We stayed in the room 'White Scar' which was superb. Fab king size bed and room facilities.
Now to the best bit!!!
Make sure you book the evening meals, as it was like dining in a five star restaurant every night. Congratulations Alan. Good choice meals, wines and local Yorkshire ales. Breakfast is excellent, good choice of menu.
This is definitely Clapham's little secret.
When staying in the Village, do walk the trail that leads up to the caves. On the way back, do drop-in to Richard's Sextons shop across from the New Inn, amazing!!
Thank you Alan for making our Anniversary weekend so special, we will be definitely returning to see you all again.
Bob & Wendy

Room Tip: Visit Alan's web site for information on his rooms; we stayed in White Scar as mentioned.
