We didn't actually stay at the DS Bungalow, but were staying at the Roop Niwas Palace down the road. The Roop Niwas Palace is owned by the same family according to Bunty, who runs the DS Bungalow with his wife Pinky. As the menu and ambience at the Roop Niwas looked questionable, we ventured next door to the DS Bungalow for dinner.
Pinky cooked us an excellent vegetarian dinner in their courtyard restaurant. They don't have a menu, but cook using vegetables from their own organic garden behind the guesthouse. The charming couple are very friendly without being intrusive, and are clearly very proud of both their hotel and their cooking. Pinky's home cooking was the best I had in Rajasthan, and at an excellent price.
The rooms appeared to be very simple but clean from what we saw of them. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to eat in Nawalgarh, and to travelers looking for budget accomodations.
