If the trade descriptions act was applied to Seaview it would be shut down!
It's actually on the only busy crossroads in Patnem; far from any hope of a sea view, with loud howling/ barking dogs and rumbling/rattling trains all night long.
I pre-booked/requested a quiet room for 3 nights thro' booking.com; thinking, as a pensioner, I would like a bit of comfort - hot water, a/c, mosquito net, wi-fi for my first 3 days. The air conditioning worked but nothing else in the blurb materialised, tho' got a bucket of piping hot water by going out to ask each morning so assume someone in the Chateau - as the family home is called [lol] - has it! The room was on the sunless side of the building and so dark I needed all the lights on at all times to find my way around! It was incredibly noisy with two oversized a/c units adjacent to my balcony and close to entrance door so heard everyone coming/going and... just plain ugly with the cheapest of everything from bed to 'fitted wardrobe' and the nasty curtains didn't even open! the floor made my feet black between c/w bathroom and bed, which was rock hard with stained, coarse cotton sheets too short to reach past my waist and dubious acrylic blankets. Couldn't leave fast enough for somewhere half the price and twice as pleasant/comfortable.
However, the 'staff' are sweet and the 'boys' in the adjacent/independent bar were very helpful and ran great films nightly, but the owner family seem to share a personality bypass gene and are probably the most charmless, joyless people I've ever met. Money is their top and bottom line and never - in six weeks of dropping by to visit the 'boys'- saw any of them smile!
Eddie the son/owner/expensive taxi man was massively disgruntled about my damning booking.com review! Not for the overall tone, but because I didn't mention his heroic dash through the night to retrieve one of my bags, that the shared taxi from the airport had dropped elsewhere on arrival. So this is for you Eddie. Thank you for that death defying ride and my bag. As for the rest; must try harder...and practise smiling!

We just came back from Goa, the place was booked for us ahead of time, as we were part of a small group. It's located on the main road in the village of Patnem, 5 min. walk to the beach. Nice size room, clean, but very basic. we had a room with an AC (hot during the day and at night too), and there was a fan too. afternoon usually half an hour of no electricity, and a few nights too (remember to bring a flashlight!). The staff were very friendly, but not the owner and his family.... we got a room on the first floor, with a small balcony which was nice to sit early in the morning, facing a lovely garden. Though at night you hear everyone that go into and out of the place and early in the morning. No screens on the windows, or balcony door - there were mosquitoes, but not too bad at this time of the year. We could not leave the windows open at night. Had to use the AC or the fan , as it was hot. Most of the time we had hot water, but other members of our group had no hot water during their stay.
A bit on the expensive side for what you get, we decided for next year visit to pay a bit more and stay on the beach. Many places to choose from!
Last time we stayed in Palolim, but we prefer Patnem , as it is quieter and less touristic - relatively.

Room Tip: Try to book a room on the first floor (lot of stairs up) ask for the last room on either side of the...

Agressive staff, no running water - after being in the room 5mins and discovering this we immediately raised the problem to return 3hours later to see the problem was still yet to be rectified. More expensive than everywhere else so we wanted to leave, we were happy with a partial refund for the 10minutes we had spent in the room but this was completely denied and staff were rude and ignorant. They offered us an alternate room but by this point we wanted nothing to do with the establishment so we decided to check in else where. We told the lady we would check out at the usual time tomorrow so that they could not rip another person off today by re selling our room. The lady told us to shut up and hand over the key or she would call the police. This is alarming behaviour and we are quite shocked. We would recommend avoiding this at all costs, there are places much nicer, closer to the beach and cheaper than this one.

On the main road and no actual sea views, but not a bad hotel provided you negotiate the room rate down quite significantly from what is on the internet. Non A/C room at the top of the old block was quite small and very hot (curtains totally inadequate to keep out the sun) - I have a suspicion that they showed me the least desirable non A/C room in an attempt to get me to take an A/C one - so that backfired as we just moved to a better hotel for less money after 2 nights.

Sea View Resort in Patnem is a good a fairly priceworthy place to stay if you are planning of visiting Patnem för leisure or yoga. It is a 3 minutes walk away from the beach (which we find is a nice distance just being able to escape the sand – but still have the sea within reach). Now they are also building a new set of rooms (14) with a slightly higher standard. And they are also in the process of establishing a swimming pool. It´s reasonably clean (after all we are in India here). There are of course the constant dogfights in the night, the crows having a ball around four every morning, the "Konkan-Express" making its passthrough through the nights (honk-hooooooooonk). But like everything else, if you stay for a while you will get use to it (even the hard madrases).

We stayed here for 4 nights in early November. We were a little worried after some of the reviews we read on here, but our experience was just fine. The owner was not an overt character, but he was helpful. The room we had was spacious, with a balcony, although no sea view. It was clean and tidy and was cleaned during our stay. We had a double room with a fan, but no air con, and it was a bit too hot at night, even with the fan, so would recommend getting A/C if you can. We had hot water in the bathroom, which was great. The restaurant was also good, although there are a lot of nice places on the beach to eat. The beach is very close, only 50 metres from the resort, and you can walk to Palolem via Patnem beach in about 10 mins. It was very quiet in Patnem in early November. Palolem was much busier, but we found Patnem more peaceful.

this was one of the worst places i have ever stayed in . it was 1 1/2 hours from the airport to start with. arrived there at 11.30 at night.taxi driver had to go and get owner to unlock the gate to get in. up 3 flights of stairs to room, oh! my god what a shock! big padbolt on door with lock, opened door 2 single beds pushed together, dirty brown looking sheets on bed. one dirty blanket, t.v. fridge. no water to drink, no tea or coffee making, very dirty bathroom etc. it was like a pig sty. next morning went down for breakfast, if you could call it that, dry toast with one egg, coffee in cracked cups, sitting under an umbella. might have been sitting in a paddock would have been better. got out of there as quick as we could. had booked for 2 nights.NO WAY . would not recommend this place for all the tea in china.
