Highly recommend this hotel, but probably only if you get a view from the front bedrooms. Steeped in history,we had the 'Hussar' room which was very pleasant with a lovely outlook, although we suspected that there was a leak from the ceiling as the carpet was very wet in one part and the bathroom smelt very 'fowsty'/blocked drain smell in the morning- but nevertheless a very comfortable stay. Lots of beautiful walks around the area and the ponies wondering around were a delight. More of a relaxation break if you want to do absolutely nothing as to my knowledge there werent many amenities in and around Beaulieu [ apart from the Motor museum of course]
We took a trip to Lyndhurst to find a meal in the evening as when we checked in the evening the Restaurant was fully booked until 9.30 [ too late !!] and next day we went to Lymington which is well worth the visit.
Might go back but probably in the warmer months to take advantage of sitting outside the bar at the hotel.
The breakfast was lovely too, very helpful waiter service.

As part of my 40th birthday present, we booked two nights at this lovely hotel. We booked through www.booking.com, receiving email confirmation of the booking. After 190 mile trip, we arrived at reception to be told that we had no booking and that there were no rooms. The receptionist called the General Manager who then said there was one room available for one night. The staff appeared helpful and said it was a superior room and we wouldn't be charged extra, and they also waived the cost of our dinner that evening. However, it did seem as if the room was only free due to a large leak which had soaked the carpet in the middle of the room, so we had to call for towels to be put down on the floor, which were quickly soaked through. We didn't get a proper explanation as to why we were holding a printed confirmation of our stay but the hotel didn't - apart from one receptionist admitting they received them by FAX and had a probelm with the machine a couple of weeks ago...
We didn't have the relaxing time away hoped for, spend extra as the hotel for the next night was more, and still are left wondering quite whose fault this was.
This aside, it is a quirky, friendly hotel in a beautiful location, and we would return AFTER booking directly with the hotel!

We all stayed at this hotel because my daughter was getting married at Exbury Gardens in the New Forest. We had previously visited there for a drink/bbq and thought it would be an excellent place for the bride to leave from and we took over 50% of the hotel for 2 nights bed and breakfast.
The main building which I stayed in had themed rooms and were very plush, some other relatives stayed in the recently refurbished annex and had no complaints. Breakfast was very good and the bar menu was also good. Reception and bar staff had great customer skills. Well done

Spent one night here to celebrate our wedding anniversary stopping in the Agamemnon Room which is a beautiful room with stunning views. Had a really wonderful stay. Spotlessley clean with Food that couldn't be faulted both for dinner and breakfast. Would recommend this hotel without any hesitation whatsoever, fantastic hotel in a beautiful part of the country.

The hotel is very nicely presented and decorated in a great setting; excellent for dogs - welcome everywhere and good walks from hotel. Very tranquil. Quite a mixed clientelle, lots of boat people come during day and early evening. Creates a nice atmosphere & some interesting conversations in the bars.
Room (standard) is absolutely fine, not sure what the complaints are about , much better than had been suggested - size good, nice facilities, enormous bed and excellent linen, great bathroom and showeer; nice touches like cucumber vodka and fresh coffee! We had good food overall - bbq is average, but breakfast is really great, desserts wonderful and the main meal was fine. The restaurant is beautifully set and we found the service very professional and polite
.... the only problem was I was up for one night with food that had clearly disagreed with me - I ate lots of sea food here, but something was not quite right & have suffered for it with one ruined night in the bathroom! I informed reception who were polite, if not terribly interested; they didnt get anyone but promised the food and beverage manager would call me back., not happened yet. Would I return? Probably if they take courtesy to call back and can be sure it was just isolated and they demonstrate some concern.
