Beautiful view, but the drive up does have narrow roads and a lot of switch backs (it is up a mountain, after all). Not a lot of parking, so be aware of bad parkers taking up too much room!

You book and pay and you go. Weather is most always poor to bad.
On the day we went it was not an exception. Had to go and saw nothing.
We drow small road up there with a car and that allready was awesome! Viewpoint is 650 meters above the Aurland fjord and its a place where you can feel ultimate freedom and enjoy beauty of norvegian deepest fjord.
Since we visited it in January, there were only us two and three other tourists on our booked bustrip from Flåm to Stegastein. So no crowd at all, got to enjoy the 30 minutes and take amazing pictures. And the audioguide in the minivan was truly good and informative, with technological innovations. The driver stopped also for a few minutes on our way back in a beautiful photo-place. Gosh did I love it! The roundtrip was a bit expensive but oh was it worth it!
We did the snowshoeing trip with Fjord Safari and it ended with a stop at this lookout. The sight of the fjord was magnificent and the structure itself was intriguing. The glass panel at the end of the platform may not be for those fainthearted, but we loved it. Definitely must-see if you're in Flam / Aurland area.
Fabulous views get a mini bus in flam train station ... we chose to do our own thing instead of going on the the flamsbana train tour cost about 20 pounds in a minibus up to stegastein .the views were spectacular!!!! Well worth it
