“Very relaxing and extremely charming waterside home in a wonderful French Village”

The village is a beautiful! It only took a few hours by train from Paris. Its very relaxing, and is an extremely charming villa on the riverbank, just few meters off the main square. It was very quiet, had beautiful old wooden floors, high ceilings, and a great Kitchen that had all you needed for an extended stay. The villa is on the second floor, above and overlooking the garden area. There was plenty of space for us all, and the beds were so comfortable. There is a huge tub to soak in at night. I just love all the windows that overlook the river and cool breeze that flows throughout. There is no need for a car as the villa is located just an easy, short walking distance from train station. We did rent a car and drive around the countryside, for about 10euros a day. I would recommend making reservation for the car before you get there. Also, there is a wonderful store called Leclerc (like Publix ) about a 10 min walk where you can find groceries, great French wine, and all the amenities you might need. Believe it or not, you will find Leclerc much cheaper than the states! Also, an outdoor market sets up several times a week on the village square. Local farmers bring fresh vegetables, roasted chickens an potatoes (delicious), as well as homemade cheeses, foie gras, breads, gorgeous flowers and more. I just loved walking to the pastry shops each morning for fresh baked croissants and baguettes. There are so many restaurants close by, and the food was delicious and less inexpensive than Paris. The locals were so nice and accommodating, and made us feel welcome. We took calligraphy lessons, as well as a painting class from a local artist. We set up on the bridge with our easel, and felt like Rembrandt! There was a wonderful English book store and so many shops in the village. There is an outdoor amphitheater and concerts. We rented bikes, but hardly rode them as we loved strolling through the streets. We loved sitting in the private garden by the river each night, and eating our meals outdoors. This was our second stay here. We got to meet the host, they were wonderful. I can't imagine staying anywhere else! Its was an overall outstanding value, and next time we go we will bring friends along!

It is wonderful to hear that you and your family and friends enjoyed their stay! And got to test out the new kitchen. It is so nice to have all the amenities that you mind need, including a dishwasher and washer and dryer all there. I know with all the traveling that you were doing and the large crowd that you had that those things were important to you. I hope though that you also got to relax and just enjoy a sunny spot by the river with a good book!!
