What a tremendous find! Peaceful and historic township with this amazing B&B on the river-bank. Exceptionally friendly and accommodating host, Davina, who waited up for us to arrive (11.00pm). Our huge, antique filled room upstairs was spotlessly clean, great bathroom, lots of little extras. Breakfast a treat. Very highly recommended.

4 night stay end of May/beginning of June 14 - a stylish and traditional townhouse in the heart of Confolens with heaps of character, a shady garden beside the Vienne and most of all a kind and hospitable host, Davina. The spacious bedroom was traditionally decorated, spotlessly clean and came with a hospitality tray brimming with all kinds of biscuit treats, teas, coffees and bottled water. En-suite bathroom spotlessly clean too and always plenty of hot water, and to top that there was the most wonderful view across the Vienne. Breakfast is served in the wood-panelled dining room where you share the large table with other guests. The excellent breakfast consists of juice, cereals, boiled egg, yoghurts, fresh fruit and plenty of fresh croissants, bread and pastries served with coffee/tea or hot chocolate. Ample free, public parking is available in the market square just outside of the front door and Confolen's shops and amenities are on the door step too. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Maison du Magnolia, was made to feel most welcome and certainly felt that it offered excellent value.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit with Davina. Davina had a wonderful sense of humor and was warm and caring. The advantages of this B&B are several as it sits on the river with marvelous views from the rooms. Parking was readily available very close to the B&B. All of the rooms have historical touches that are most appealing. The breakfast was truly impressive, one of the finest on our trip. Davina was most helpful with her suggestions for our itinerary. She helped make our stay most wonderful.

We stayed at Davina's very stylish B&B for 6 nights in August 2013, (having stayed a couple of times before for shorter periods) during the impressive Confolens Festival. Maison de Magnolia is right in the centre of the town, with great views of the river. Indeed, the rear garden offers a truly privileged spot to gaze upon the ancient bridge and, in our case, the Festival fireworks. Davina puts together a great continental breakfast with freshly baked croissants and some delicious specialities from a nearby baker, together with fresh fruit, a most welcome addition. Rooms are spacious, well-furnished and comfortable, and guests have the use of a very nice lounge in addition. There are lots of thoughtful extras for guests: hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo, tea and coffee, corkscrew! We were also able to store the all-important wine and cheese in a spare fridge.
A great bonus is Davina's local knowledge of places to visit and, should you have a property nearby or be thinking of acquiring one, the people to contact for services. In France such knowledge is really useful. We'll be back!

We have stayed with Davina on a regular basis for over 4 years whilst building our own house nearby. The property is delightful and full of character with a lovely warm feeling.Rooms are beautifully furnished and immaculately clean, complete with all the extras you could ask for such as a great selection of tea/coffee and scrumptious biscuits!Location is perfect right on the main square of Confolens close to the market and all bars/shops and restaurants. The "secret garden" is a delight leading down to the riverbank with a gorgeous magnolia tree and views to die for across the Vienne river and medieval bridges. If you choose to have an evening meal be prepared for a real gastronomic treat.Davina is an excellent and creative cook and the portions will be enormous.!The guest lounge is a haven of peace, ideal for relaxing with a good book or catching up on the DVD collection.A perfect place from which to expolre the beauty and charm of the surrounding Charente countryside.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear have magnificent views over the garden and Vienne river.

We recently spent three nights at Magnolia and must say it was a delight. Wonderful rooms with tasteful furnishings and the bonus of seeing the beautiful magnolia tree in full bloom from what must be the best bathroom window view ever! Devina the host is the jewel in the crown- nothing is too much trouble, from her lovely home cooking to advice on where to visit and DVDs for a rainy afternoon. Perfect location just off the main square right in the centre of town yet peaceful with wonderful nights sleep all round. Quite exceptional!

I have been visiting Confolens and Davina for 5 years now and it is like going to stay with family or your best friend. I know that I will always get "my room" overlooking the beautiful Magnolia tree (when in bloom) and the river. The decor of the rooms is always fresh and clean and your every comfort is catered for. The guest sitting room is very relaxing and you can take your coffee/tea there instead of your room if you are part of a group or just want to speak to other guests.

Breakfast is always a great start to the day but be warned that if you book for dinner never request 3 courses unless you are a big eater as you will be served with enough food to feed an army! Davina is a wonderful cook and the wine which accompanies the meal is always excellent.

The house has a lot of orignal features and you can feel a sense of history about the place.

A great base for a holiday if you wish to explore the surrounding area; ideally situated for the Dance Festival each August; perfect for a one night stop-over and suitable for anyone except those who are wheelchair based or have difficulty climbing stairs.

Nothing is ever a problem for Davina and I should add that well-behaved dogs are also welcomed. You will always be assured of a warm welcome and lots of laughter. Great value for money.

Room Tip: Generally the rooms at the back are quieter in the busy summer months and you get a view of the rive...
