“Rose Cottage Everthing Promised By David and Debbie and Even More !!”
Reviewed 29 February 2016 for a stay in November 2015

Let me firstly say this something I would not ordinarily do to leave a review on a holiday or any other event, but I would consider it a miss justice not to thank David and Debbie for delivering everything it say's on the TIN !!!

After recently returning from our second visit to Rose Cottage the first being a much needed do nothing re-charge the batteries sort of holiday and our more recent lets go and discover everywhere we can we weren't disappointed on either occasion. The first speaks for it's self but this time we found the cottage to be a superb base for daily adventures to all of the D Day sites and the Normandy coastline picking our own destinations and lots of others we read about in the books and leaflets left by David and Debbie. They are all easy venue's within the day without any early morning starts the Beaches, Bayeux many morning markets Carentan is a must and also the fish market at Grand Camp Maisy and even Mont Saint Michel is an easy day out, returning to a friendly couple of beers at the Au Fil de l'Eau in Saint Fromond before returning home for a bar-b-que and a bit of RED.

If a bit of exercise is more your bag you are minutes away from the river Vire which has a cycle path and good walking all the way south to St Lo and north to Carentan, we discovered on a walk from Saint Fromond on the canal De Vire the ruined chateau which is the home to the migrating Storks nesting there in March every year but even when they are not resident the nest's themselves are a site to behold.

In finishing as I said earlier and you can see from other reviews the cottage is superbly appointed and meets all and more of what is promised so much so we have booked again to stay in September this year.

“A perfect example of French rural tranquility - pure heaven!”
Reviewed 22 February 2016 for a stay in October 2015

As regular travelers to France and to French cottages, this was far and above the best we've ever stayed in! The location is ideal for walking, sightseeing and getting a true taste of French rural life and the cottage is the perfect home from home with all the charm and luxury you look for in the ideal holiday home!

From the moment you arrive at Rose Cottage (aptly named with its beautiful trailing roses around the door!) you feel at home with its roaring log fire and lovely secluded garden. We arrived fully stocked with the essentials (bread, wine and cheese) picked up on the way at a great little supermarket in Le Molay Littry then realized that we really needn't have bothered as everything is so handy. Pont-Hebert is just nearby and has everything you need in a small French town ad Carentan is a beautiful market town with all the additional advantage of all the large supermarkets too.

Forgotten here is the all too frequent memory of French cottages with their creaky beds, minimal bathrooms and a kitchen comprising of a microwave which is supposed to cook everything if it's too cold for a barbeque! This is a haven! There's lots of room to relax in comfort, both in and outside, the kitchen is beautiful and a pleasure to eat and cook in, the beds are wonderfully comfortable and the bathroom is a pleasure!! In fact it is so comfortable, you really have to force yourselves to go sightseeing at times. The garden was beautiful even at the late end of the season and a real suntrap for reading and having a glass of wine. The sunsets are incredible and many a happy evening was spent in the sun lounge eating and watching the sun go down over the neighboring fields.

If you're a fan of the great outdoors, this is the perfect location as you can walk for miles from the cottage or in the nearby Cerisy forest where you can take a guide to pick mushrooms for your dinner or walk for hours spotting the occasional deer. If you like pretty market towns there's an abundance and the cottage is in the perfect location for visiting the war memorials and landing sites. What also really made this holiday perfect was the warmth and friendliness of the local people who went out of their way wherever you went to make you feel at home and welcome.

Overall, an outstanding holiday in the perfect cottage - never to be forgotten - we will definitely return many times in the future!

“Home from Home in Peaceful French Countryside”
Reviewed 19 February 2016 for a stay in August 2015

We have stayed at Rose Cottage several times and always regret having to come home.

The cottage is set in a peaceful rural location but within easy reach of villages and the main motorway links. Five minutes drive away is the village of Pont-Herbert where you will find a bank, bakery, butchers and a supermarket amongst other things. Also within easy reach is the main town of Saint Lo. Here there are larger supermarkets and shops and also a cinema and bowling alley.

The cottage itself is very well appointed and has everything in that you could possibly need for your stay.

The kitchen has been refurbished with beautiful oak units, granite work tops and has all modern appliances including a fridge, dishwasher, oven, and hob. It is well equipped if you want to dine in. There is a centre island with seating round so is a great sociable area. One of the original features in the kitchen is a large open fire, which is lovely and cosy if travelling to Rose Cottage in the cooler months.

Off the kitchen at the rear of the property is the bathroom, cloakroom and utility room. Again all very well appointed.

The living area has two large sofas and a TV and off that a dining area with a large dining table. The lounge and dining area run along the front of the house so it is lovely and light and from the dining area there are French doors leading out onto the decking area. This is great whether you want a sun trap during the day or eating
al-fresco for a BBQ in the evenings. You will also get an amazing view of the night sky from Rose Cottage. There is also a large garden a the front of the property which is nice and private, sheltered by trees and bushes.

There are three bedrooms, two double rooms and a triple room. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms are furnished with wardrobes etc. The rooms are very spacious especially the double that is off the triple room.

As you drive into Rose Cottage, you will fall in love before you set foot through the door. With its wooden shutter boards on the windows and its Rose plants trailing up the front. We will definitely be back time and time again.

Thank you for a fabulous stay.
