“Wonderful Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

What a great dinner at the Cider Barn last week. Food was delicious interesting menu - crispy pigs ears were great, the salted fish was good. Both the mains of Pork Belly and Sea Bass were excellent. Puddings were good too. Service was very friendly and relaxed. It has only been open with this chef for about 6 weeks we wish them the very best because they deserve to do well. The setting is good sat out side for a pre-dinner glass of bubbly overlooking the fields perfect, then in for dinner in a lovely old barn.

“Happy experience with great local produce, cooked with flair and served with a friendly atmosphere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

We visited in week three for the chef/owner Sophie in her new venture. Sophie is an exciting chef with a deep knowledge and understanding of food that shines through her menu, all cooked with very local produce (and fine fish).

With two kids, we were very well looked after by the friendly staff. Its a calming atmosphere in an interesting C17th timber-framed converted barn typical of Herefordshire. We enjoyed cured fish, asparagus starters and sea bass fillet. The kids were happy with local sausages and local apple juice to quench their thirst. Ciders and wines are first rate. Doughnuts with lemon and raspberry curd were outstanding.

Sophie serves great food in modest portions, just enough, and not too much to mask the beauty of the dishes. Simple elegance? She charges modest and reasonable prices too. By the time i write this review, you will definately need to book!

“Great Food Country Style”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

The premises are former agricultural buildings which have been tastefully converted into a cafe bar and restaurant plus outdoor eating/drinking areas surrounded by attractive countryside. A great place for coffee and cake while out walking/cycling along the country lanes or for a more formal meal. We did both on successive days! They offer a varied menu using locally grown produce where possible and catered for our party of 11 really efficiently with the food arriving hot and beautifully presented. The staff are charming and very helpful (a special thanks to Sarah) and offered us a few treats while were were waiting such as lavender fudge and biscotti. If you are holidaying in the area a trip here can easily be combined with a visit to the adjacent Dunkertons Cider Mill (you must try the Black Fox cider) or the nearby interesting Black & White villages. We will definitely return.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Excellent menu with a wide range of options depending on whether you want a big meal or a snack. All good quality.

Excellent service - both friendly and efficient.

Interesting venue, with the option (during the day) to talk to the cider makers.

We would have returned if we had been staying in the area longer.
