A bit off the beaten track, but if you visit the extremely pretty village of Pembridge try and do it when the cider barn cafe is open. The warm and friendly greeting was a great introduction to an attractive building, pretty view, excellent food and efficient service. We arrived after 2pm and were informed it would be "a stretch" to serve three courses before service ended at 3pm, so we opted to have all the starters (plus salad and chips). They were excellent, I particularly liked the parmesan brulee-a new take on one of my favourite desserts! The pork belly was also outstanding. There was a lovely combination of flavours in all the dishes and the presentation was exemplary.
There was a good winelist, but we opted to try some cider, in keeping with the building. Our server had a good knowledge of his products and steered us in the direction of the local perry, which was delicious and just to our taste.
Watching other meals being served (and overhearing other diners) it seemed as though both the main courses and desserts had to same attention to detail and good combinations of flavours as our starters.
At lunch time there is also a cafe menu.
Well worth leaving the beaten track for.
