We booked in the hotel for a three night break visiting family in South Devon. From the start of our three night stay, the accommodation set the scene, our room like the other three were styled and decorated to a very high standard. Very spacious accommodation with every attention to detail made our stay a real treat. The garden and grounds added to our experience, providing a beautifully, manicured outlook from a duel aspect room.
We have made another booking for later this year based on our experience, can't speak highly enough of the team of staff, who made our stay what it was.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mallard room, one of four rooms all named after ducks.

We stopped here for one night during a driving tour of the south of England. This B&B is chic and stylish but very comfortable and welcoming. The rooms felt 'designer' with excellent attention to detail and quirky touches which made you feel you were staying somewhere unique and individual. The toiletries in the bathroom were divine and the bed was so comfortable, I didn't want to get up....

The restaurant downstairs served really good food. You could tell it was very popular with locals, as it was packed. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and afterwards, we went outside to watch the ducks and have a game of giant chess, as you do! We would happily stay here again.

The room was comfortable, spacious and well-appointed. The breakfast menu presented a variety of choices and the service was excellent. It is an ideal base for exploring the area. The only drawback is the fact that, if you arrive at a busy lunchtime, you have to vie for attention from busy bar staff who are serving the pub and restaurant clientele.

John,

Thank you very much indeed for such a good review. I'm sure you know how pleasurable it is for us to know that our endeavours are well received!

I noted your comment and will talk to the crew; unfortunately with just 4 rooms a dedicated reception is a bit tricky but we will see if we can improve.

Thanks again,

Bruce.

The website for the TCM sets the tone for the friendly welcome and the high standard of service we received. We stayed two nights in a very cosy 'Muscovy' (all rooms named after their resident ducks!) which was modern and contemporary - as was the good sized ensuite. Every need had been anticipated - bottled water and coffee machine in the room; help yourself tea point just outside. King sized bed was very comfy, and we coveted the light oak furniture for our own home! Breakfast was as much or as little as you wished. We also had dinner on both nights and enjoyed watching meals being prepared through the window into the kitchen whilst we sipped our pre-dinner drinks. All the food we ate was excellent and we thought good value for money. This place was a great find. We didn't have time to explore the grounds unfortunately and were sorry that we were only in the area for the two nights - but we will definitely be back!

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Turtley. Your comments are very kind and I shall ensure the crew read them.

The chickens and ducks will be disappointed that you did not explore their domain to see them but I'll let them know you will be back with that intention!

We really appreciate you using TA to let us know.

Return soon!

Bruce.

My husband and I stayed at Turtley Corn Mill for two nights as part of a tour round Devon and the south coast. The bed and breakfast is a little treasure. I love a hotel that has a theme and runs with it, and this place sure does that. The theme? Ducks, I love ducks! The theme (presumably) generates from the ducks and chickens running wild in the gardens, which is a joyful treat in itself. The rooms are all named after ducks. We stayed in Ruddy. And everywhere you look are subtle duck fittings and fixtures. I particularly loved the duck door stop and I'd just love to know where I can get one from.
The rooms are very well sized and furnished with a lovely rural, yet modern decor. The bed was king sized and so comfy. I dropped off in no time and just didn't want to get out of it the next morning.
There was a plentiful supply of tea and coffee in the corrridor, of which you could help yourself, and a cute honesty board where you could note down any "extras" that were on offer, such as crisps, chocolate or other soft drinks.
There is a certain amount of noise in the evening, but if you book a B&B above a pub/restaurant you have to expect that really, and it was quiet by about 11.30pm.
Breakfast was really nice. There was a good selection of hot options, and not an assumption that you'd want a full English every day.
We had an evening meal at Turtley Court on our first night. It was realy tasty, but a bit on the pricy side. We certainly couldn't afford to have eaten there both nights.
The grounds at Turtley Corn Mill are wonderful and I can imagine it to be a super popular place on warm sumer's evening. The grounds are full of the resident ducks and chickens, ad the giant chess board kept hubby and me amused for hours. We created a bit of a gathering at one point!
I'd certainly recomend Turtley Corn Mill to anyone staying in the area, though perhaps I'd make sure you had a few viable options for evening meals if you're a bit short on cash.

Room Tip: The rooms at the end overlooking the gardens (od which Ruddy is one, but I can't remember the other) are well worth requesting if they're free.

Hello Mrs. Muffin,

Your review is as good as it gets! Thank you very much indeed for so many kind remarks. It's good to know you love ducks and chickens as much as we do; there is doubt, on occasions, as to whether we are running a pub or a farm. Keeps us out of trouble!

Hopefully one day you will both return.

Bruce.
