“Clean and Good Location”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed at this hotel in late January as part of a trip through Nepal. The hotel was in a good location with many shops around it. You can access the river from the rear of the property. The rooms were a good size and clean. The beds are small by North American standards so even though we had a double and a single bed in our room we had to sleep in separate beds because the double just wasn't big enough. There was plenty of hot water which is not the norm in Nepal and there was a backup generator during the night when electricity was not available. There was also complimentary Wi-Fi on the property. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meals were good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed both the river tour and the elephant ride arranged through the hotel.

The hotel is still pretty basic, 4* for camp rating though i guess.
Rooms are relatively clean. Simple, but equipped with candles and matches to be prepared with the many power outages. They also have mosquito coils, and nets for each bed (even if there are a few holes in them!)
The showers were hot, which is a little rare in Nepal lower quality accommodation, so that was nice.
The rooms are brick bungalows, each with a single and skinny double bed, and a small table, and drying rack. Good to be able to hang out your stuff, as it's very humid.
Screens are ok on the windows, but could be better, as this whole area is infested with Mosquitos.
The staff are very friendly here, and really welcoming and helpful. The hotel also puts on a dancing show and buffet dinner on some nights when groups are in, and that was pretty cool to watch the cultural stick dancing.

We stayed at River View on a break from working in Kathmandu, and we had an amazing time. The staff couldn't have done more for us - I emailed before we arrived to tell them what we'd like to do, and they came up with the perfect programme for us. The activities were great fun and well-organised - I recommend spending a night in their Jungle Tower, where a guide will accompany you to point out the variety of wildlife that passes by.
The accommodation was comfortable and the garden was beautiful with lots of secluded places to sit among the flowers.
On our last day there was a strike in Chitwan, which meant there were no taxis available to get us to the airport, but our hosts procured a horse and cart for us and got us there in plenty of time. Definitely service above and beyond!
Wireless internet access is available at reasonable rates from the internet cafe down the road - this can be used in your room, although it's not the fastest.

Room Tip: The lodge has both modern and mud cottages.

This is a basic but delightful safari lodge on the edge of the Rapti river near Royal Chitwan National Park. The lodge consists of comfortable cottages (Nepali huts built with wood and elephant grass and covered with mud or Modern huts with carpet and bathroom). There is 24hr running hot and cold water. There is a beautiful garden with a path leading to the river where you can enjoy a great view and come across elephants bathing. The staff is very friendly and will do anything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
