“Memorable moments spent at Sapana Village Lodge”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

We reached the resort at late night and Mr.Naran (hotel manager) greeted us warmly and the staff cooked meal for us yet it was so late. It was a lovely place , surrounded by greenery all over the resort. It is calm, beautiful and so much relaxing over there . I suggest all of you to once make a visit to this beautiful resort and you will never forget the moments spent here. The staff made us feel comfortable ..

Our stay at Sapana Village was a highlight of our trip to Nepal. The staff and the effort they put into making sure our time at Chitwan was enjoyable was the best part of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and really enjoyed interacting with all their guests. The variety of activities available was fantastic. We got to see and do a lot but our favourites were the all day jungle safari on foot and our all day Chepang Hill trek. Our guide Sanjay on the all day safari made sure we had an up close and personal experience with the rhinos. Akash, our guide on the Chepang Hill trek, ensured we had a very personalised experience in the villages along the way. We were very impressed with the knowledge of both of the guides. We were also impressed with the contribution that Sapana make to the local communities. We can't recommend Sapana Village highly enough.

I'm delighted to hear that the staff members were so accommodating, the kitchen served you excellent food and you enjoyed all jungle and culture activities offered here. Our village is setting up in a village style and of course it is near many other local villages so that you could experience the local life here.

After 14 days trekking to Everest Base Camp and some hectic days in Kathmandu, Sapana Village Lodge was the perfect place to relax and unwind. I am so glad we found this place based on other trip adviser reviews. Magnificent gardens in a rural setting overlooking a river and watching locals go about their day to day business, was bliss. Great surroundings, outdoor areas, fantastic food and staff who only want to please you. Rooms were delightful, spotlessly clean with large bathroom and beautiful shower. Balconies for sitting. I would rate this place equivalent to any 5 star resort but at way below 5 star prices. The manager, Naran, was a delight to deal with. What topped it off was that the lodge supports local businesses with micro finance, schools, medical clinics and employment. It is like a community run facility. We washed the amazing elephants in the river, saw a wild rhino and deer and we are taking the opportunity to sleep in the tree tops overnight in the jungle with a guide and interact with local villagers. Hoping to see a tiger. We are staying for 9 nights. We have been here 3 days but couldn't wait to write this review. They didn't even charge for our rooms whilst we are sleeping in the jungle although our belongings stayed in there. This place is a rare gem. The perfect place to unwind. You won't be disappointed. Main meals only around $5 and drinks $1 for juices and $3 for alcoholic drinks.

Room Tip: All rooms have character with murals hand painted on internal walls. Not some sterile hotel room. Pe...

Low rise series of buildings next to a river. Beautiful layout with loads of flowers and shrubs, best of all are the bar area and restaurant, both of which overlook the river. We were very fortunate to watch the mahout washing his elephant in the river while we breakfasted. They also bring the elephants into the hotel grounds so you can also take them to the river for a bath - beware - you do get wet!! Go and see mum and (mischieveous) baby elephant next to the hotel and do go for the elephant ride in the park to see deer, monkeys and rhinos. We were on a tour through India and Nepal involving probably 8-10 hotels and this was the star turn! Staff really friendly, Janner will remember your name in no time.

Room Tip: Our room didn't have A/C, which wasn't a disaster but I believe this is available in some ro...

Dear Richard,
Namaste and greetings !!!!!!!!!! We are really thankful for your visit to Sapana Village and of course the positive reviews like yours mean so much to us. We truly appreciate your concern regarding the A/C in the room. Some of our rooms do have A/C.

It seems that you have enjoyed watching all our resident elephant walking through the garden and having bath in the nearby river. We are really glad read that Sapana Village turned the star hotel among your 08-10 hotels in both India and Nepal.

Thanks and we are looking forward to welcome you at our place again.

My son had just finished a semester abroad at Chitwan through the U of MN. As my husband and I planned our travels, I picked this lodge because of the owner's desire to give back to the larger community. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed conversations and joking. The staff sat with us and learned what we wanted to experience during our stay, and then helped with the arrangements.
This is where I got the dreaded traveller's sickness. . .(not because of the wonderful food here!!!). . . and the staff made a point of helping me to feel better with chicken broth soup. Kindness knows no language barriers and I hope I can return to this paradise some day.

Room Tip: The rooms are in clusters to form small communities. All places appeared to be wonderful.

I got to have a bath with an elephant. Not something I thought I would ever say. I can't remember her name but will never forget this experience. We rode to the river bareback, rolled over and scrubbed behind her ears. It was magical.

The hotel/lodge is fantastic, very clean and tidy, the chalets/rooms are spacious and secure and the staff warm and friendly. Service at the bar/restaurant was very good and the food was great. The surrounding area is very peaceful and everyone we encountered was smiling and friendly. There is wildlife everywhere, from elephants to crocodiles, dogs to goats and cows. The tours and activities offered by the hotel were wide ranging and priced reasonably.

I have recommended Sapana to all my friends back home and will return one day. Sitting in the bar in the afternoon haze, drinking a cold beer and watching the elephants bathing in the river is a memory I will never lose, one of the best of my life.

You might had a bath with one of our two resident elephants named Champakali and Chanchalkali. We do not use the mother and baby elephants for bath activity.

Thanks again and we expect your visit to our place in the future.
