“'JEWEL OF THE COTSWOLDS'”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2013

My mum and I have just returned from a 2 night break at Hackers End Bed & Breakfast which was most enjoyable. The Location is perfect for sight seeing around the Cotswolds including areas we visited Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold, Burford, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Morton- in- marsh, Oxford, to name just a few.

The accommodation was superb, clean and spacious with separate tv lounge and comfortable sofa for reading or just relaxing after a long day sightseeing. Wide choice of teas and coffees available with biscuits and chocolates which I couldn't resist. A mini fridge containing fresh milk, water, orange even a home made elderflower cordial which I sampled and enjoyed.

The bed was so comfortable we were reluctant to get up on a morning until the smell of home cooked breakfast drifted up the stairs. Spoilt for choice at breakfast with fresh fruits, yoghurts and cereals a plenty, warm croissants and home made jams. I had a superb Cotswold cooked breakfast which included bacon, egg, sauted mushrooms, tomatoes, sausage and baked beans if you wanted them. My mum had the smoked trout with sauted mushrooms and tomatoes and cleaned her plate. Plenty of tea and toast which kept us going until tea time.

We made new friends during our stay with Mia the Burmese cat who was so friendly and loved her chin tickling and rolled over on our feet also Rafferty and Finnegan the Irish Setters who were always pleased to see us with a warm welcome back after our days out.

We had tea at The Kings Head Inn in Bledington just a few miles away one night which was very nice and the other night at the Greedy Goose which was a lovely pub, nicely decorated but only average food.

On our way back home we stopped off in Stratford Upon Avon and Leamington Spa which ended our trip perfectly.

I can certainly recommend staying at Hackers End if you are visiting this part of the Cotswolds, you will not be disappointed. Christine is a wonderful hostess and has plenty of local knowledge if you need it, she also keeps files full of information for places to visit and eat for her visitors.

My wife and I stayed at Hackers End B&B for four nights on our trip to the Cotswolds at the end of July 2103 and we will strongly recommend it! We had a wonderful stay and can not really express how impressed we were with the hostess, Chris. Her attention to details makes this B&B truly feel like home. After a long day of sightseeing, it was really good to return to her clean and comfortable B&B. There were all sorts of goodies in our own private lounge. The small cooler with complementary water, juice etc was also much appreciated. Waking up the next morning to enjoy Chris' superb breakfast must be the best possible way to start start your day! She can also provide you with recomondations on what to do and where to go in the Costwolds depending on your interests. Towns like Oxford, Stratford-upon-Aven, Bath and the Cotswold villages are in easy reach of Churchill.

I would strongly recommend Hackers end as a 2, 3 or 4 night base to explore The Cotswolds.

We stayed 2 nights in July, in what can only be described as a modern private serviced apartment, with loads of extra goodies and thoughtful touches provided by a wonderful host Chris, who could not do enough for us during our stay.

The accommodation is a double bedroom a relaxing lounge with a private fridge full of complementary juice, water, cordial, fresh milk (no uht at hackers End) there were sweets and fruit on the table, a cupboard with more herbal teas, coffees and biscuits than you could shake a stick at. A beautiful bathroom with luxury soaps, lotions and fluffy towels.

Best of all was the breakfast, fresh, plentiful and varied, this is a great find, a 4 star B&B with 5 star hotel standards, we will visit again. BOOK IT WITH CONFIDENCE, The Cotswolds villages are all within easy reach of Churchill.

Room Tip: Hackers End 5 star suite.

Hackers End is not your classic UK B&B. It is a B&B with a hint of Japanese culture. Chris, who runs this small and impeccably clean property, is a great host and a person who knows so much about local and global things. We stayed in a suite on first floor; the living room was converted into a sleeping room for our daughter. Breakfasts, again, with that special addition of japanese flavors, made out of fresh local ingredients. Table and food prepared to a high standards. Nice garden with a bench under the tree. Chris has planted many spices along the edges of the garden, and used many while preparing the food. For us having chance to exchange views and news with Chris was almost as valuable as staying in a nice and clean house on the country side. Churchill itself is a small town, and it suits us well for exploring the Cotswold.

My husband and I stayed her from 27/4/13 -30/4/13 and boy what a find.
Chris is a lovely, lovely Lady who was a wonderful Hostess, who couldn't do enough for us.

Our accommodation was lovely and very tastefully decorated throughout with a Japanese theme.

Her breakfasts were....wow! they were plentiful and gorgeous with only the finest ingredients.
There were all sorts of goodies in our own private lounge upstairs, with fresh bottled water each day in the mini fridge.

The bathroom was large, which was full of lovely Champney products ........lush!

We had a wonderful peaceful stay and will definitely be returning. I would recommend Hackers End to everyone who stays in Churchill.

Thank you Chris.

We stayed at Hackers End for 4 nights in March, in a suite upstairs, bedroom, lounge and a good sized bathroom this had all the toiletries you require. Everything is very clean and and comfortable, the living room has a small fridge stocked with goodies, on the coffee table there is a bowl of fresh fruit, chocolates, sweets, a cupboard with coffee and lots of differant teas. The breakfasts, well where to start, they were wonderful, more like a 4 course meal, previous guests have already mentioned these breakfasts so I will leave it there, only to say there is everything you would wish for in a breakfast, it is all fresh and bought locally, and Chris lays a beautiful table which is very inviting. Chris was a wonderful hostess and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for her and she made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Everything was perfect, you woud want for nothing if you stayed with Chris at Hackers End, would definatley recommend anyone to stay.

We stayed at Hackers end for two nights in April.
The cottage is beautiful very clean and tidy.
The cottage has a little upstairs living room area bathroom and bedroom. This is all yours which you have all to yourself. It was like having our own flat for the two days. The living room is stocked with little treats like chocs selection of teas and coffee, fresh orange. Bottles of water were in the fridge waiting after a long walk.
My husband and I were blown away by the breakfasts, which consist of fresh juice, fresh fruit, yogurts, fresh preserves, homemade granola, croissants, this is even before the main event.
We tried Chris' special smoked trout and scrambled eggs delicious. The next day we had the Cotswold breakfast. Churchill eggs, bacon sausage, tomato and sauté mushrooms all fresh produce and locally sourced.

Chris is the most amazing host and recommended some fantastic restaurants and walks, which we needed after all the yummy food.
It was great having your own front door so we could come and go without disturbing anyone.
Chris has two beautiful red setters who are really friendly and well behaved. They are not allowed to go in the upstairs part of the B&B.
Chris really cares about your stay and makes sure you have everything you need, she is friendly and sweet.
We will definitely recommending this to our friends. If you want a beautiful, relaxing time in the country with comfy beds and yummy food and a great host definitely stay here.
