Maliba Mountain Lodge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 15 July 2013

We try to visit the mountains every second year at least. This has been by far the best experience! My son has VERY special menu requirements so communications with the lodge beforehand was essential. I was contacted by the resort within a couple of hours of my request and since then our communication was almost instant. Nothing was too much trouble and any anxiety that normally would go with a holiday that is not self-catering was completely erased!
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated like we were special. My kids absolutely loved the kids club. We have a girl of 8 and a boy of 12. It takes some doing keeping both happy and interested. Well they were absolutely in heaven after each session.
My husband and son did some hiking and my daughter and I went on a guided horse trip just around the lodge as she was still a bit small to go on uneven ground up and down hills and mountains. But even throughout this trip we felt special. Whenever we were away from the lodge for a meal we had the nicest packed lunches in cooler bags of back packs, depending on our outing.
The food was absolutely phenomenal. And it was the cleanest lodge/hotel we have ever stayed in, and we travel alot locally and internationally.
The staff was incredible, really, nothing was too much trouble, and they even made my husband and I a special dinner one night for his birthday. We will most certainly go back....soon! The lodge absolutely deserves 5 stars!!
The location is perfect with the most stunning mountain views!

I've just had the pleasure of a six-night stay with a friend at Maliba Mountain Lodge. Everything about it was excellent. The location makes an immediate impact, with high hills and mountains all around. The air and the water are pure. The food was unfailingly of the highest order - fresh ingredients, beautifully presented and delicious! The staff were all utterly friendly and helpful. There are some great walking trails, which contribute to one's sense of being refreshed and renewed. This was my first visit and the next one will follow as soon as can be.

Although we didn't stay at the Maliba Lodge, we did have a wonderful lunch at the lodge. We had no reservations for lunch yet the staff was able to accommodate us. They were friendly and efficient and the food was wonderful. We dined on the patio and were able to see Eland grazing across the river. It was a treat to have our grandson with us. He is a Peace Corps volunteer in Teyateyaneng. He had been here before and wanted to share with us the beauty of the area. Truly Lesotho is the land in the sky full of beautiful people with smiling faces!

This was our main stop on our honeymoon and it was a real treat. The food was amazing and the service excellent. The staff was friendly and they did everything to make us feel comfortable. On the second day we had a picnic lunch that they arranged for us and this was truly something to experience. When we arrived in our room after dinner, there was a cozy fire waiting for us. The views all around the lodge is really beautiful and we enjoyed every moment of our stay!

My husband and our two boys spent 3 nights at Maliba Lodge and we were spoiled rotten. The beautiful vistas from every angle engulfed us as we enjoyed an excellent cuisine. The setting is stunning, the rooms spacious, comfortable and luxurious. The staff made us feel like we were VIP's - the treatment we got was highly attentive. We had little surprises like a chocolate fondue brought to us in the afternoon or upon entering our chalet after supper, a trail of candles, leading us to a bubble bath - wow - the spoiling never ended. We enjoyed beautiful walks, a stunning ride on the horses, a relaxing massage, the down to earth and very friendly Basotho people but most enjoyable was the absolute silence and peace. We will definitely return to this piece of heaven on earth.

My family and I stayed at the Maliba Mountain Lodge over the long weekend of June 16th. Upon arrival and throughout our stay, we were made to feel like we were the only guests at the lodge. Outstanding service and very warm hospitality were standard. The facilities were excellent including the food. Will definitely recommend it. Can't wait for next winter!

We stayed there for one night (but wouldnt have minded to stay longer!)

we decided to book a hut near the river - I think its the most basic accomodation Maliba has to offer - but we were really surprised - the huts are bigger than you would think (and have a shower and toilet and eleictricity) and much more comfortable !

there are just a handful of huts and we were the only couple in that area - so sitting at the river at night was really a great experioence!

you have to drive about 5-10 minutes from there to the main lodge - which is very luxury and the people are trying to fulfill every wish!
...just not forget ...the views from the lodge - breathtaking....

Room Tip: The budget accomodation "huts on the river" - better than you may think!
