Unfortunately we were in a side room to the main dining room so missed some of the ambiance of the hotel. The food however was really well presented and the steaks of high French quality. Not cheap but worth a visit.

There are not many eatery options in Montriond itself, Morzine just a short drive up the road is a better option for choice. We however we staying a 2 minute walk from Le Rocher and it was well worth a visit. We sat outside as a warm evening, and although Montriond small the outdoor seating area was busy. Inside was lovely presented, shame was too warm to sit in really. The staff were very friendly and the resident dog (more a pooch!) was an added bonus for the 2 children we were with, a friendly pet but not one that got in the way too much. The food was well presented and very tasty; serving traditional Savoyard dishes at reasonable prices. They also do pizza and takeaway pizza, which we did make use of one evening!

Whilst not an exceptional food standard, Le Rocher produces some very high quality basic dishes very well.

Served in a family oriented manner, with obliging staff, we had a range of pizza and steak, from the kids menu and the adult menu. In good basic surroundings, this was a dinner trattoria style. Of particular note were the pizza which were large and with thin crusts and made with good dough.

We drank Gamay and beers and were kept topped up with free water too. No issues on that front.

We ate and drank well and enjoyed our evening. So, simple food, cooked and served well. We were happy to spend our money here (under €20/head).

On a bad snow day we had both a light lunch (French onion soup recommended) and dinner (snails then large, light pizza, nice bottle of Gamay). Entertainment was provided by Madame's little dog pirouetting, and a picturesque snowfall outside in the square. Remember to reserve a table on popular Wednesday evening!

Turned up without a reservation for 8 people! They were flat out and didn't have a spare table. They sat us at the bar, gave us free snacks whilst they juggled covers! 45 mins later we were being served with great food. 20 euro pp is what we paid for food and wine pp. If you are in the area this is a MUST DO eatery. 10/10
