Beautiful setting. Charming inn. Fabulous food. Those are the headlines from our recent stay at the Lamb Inn. Not too far from London, and even better from Oxford, the Lamb Inn in Great Rissington is the perfect place to stay to see the Cotswolds. You can do it in a weekend away from the city, but fully experience the countryside, feeling far away from the pollution and busyness of city life--just what we wanted. We received a very warm welcome, and the gentleman who was always on site (owner? manager?) was always cheerful and attentive. Next to the surroundings, the food was the star of the weekend. Absolutely fantastic food, and lots of choice. The only reasons we did not give five stars: the rooms could be a bit nicer (the bed was so soft we hurt our backs--but then again, everyone has different preferences; and the decor was only OK--a hole was cut (apparently hastily) in the headboard so that a poorly placed light switch could be accessed); and with the exception of the owner/manager mentioned above, the service was not always as friendly and professional as it could be. Overall, it was a lovely weekend, and we will certainly be back. It is pretty good value for money, too.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I'm pleased you had a lovely stay and will recommend to friends. I'm delighted you found our food to be absolutely fantastic with lots of choice and was the star of the weekend .
My apologies if you found the beds a little soft, I use the industry standard medium firm but if you do plan a return visit please email me in advance and I will organise a firmer mattress.
I will mention your staff comments at Tuesdays team meeting as constructive feedback is always appreciated and hopefully next time you will experience excellent customer service from us all
Kind regards
Paul

My husband (John) booked us here as a surprise 65th Birthday for me. What a double surprise! The welcome, flowers in our room 'The Windrush Suite', all was perfect. The friendliest staff you could ever meet - without being over the top, comfiest bed we have ever slept in (compared to many other hotels) and the Spa Bath took two of us.....Cleanliness was second to none, and the embroidered bedding was beautiful. The menu was wonderful, the Chef Jamie knows his meats. Beef was Herefordshire, go for his rib-eye steak and so tender, Pork was Tamworth so belly pork was also tender - I don't know what the chicken was, but the Crab was gorgeous. Many thanks to all at The Lamb Inn for making my Birthday Treat so happy & memorable. We both loved it and will be back again - promise. xxx

Room Tip: Go for the 'Windrush Suite'. No-one passes your door at night, you have lots of windows to...

We stayed here with friends & had the garden suites. What a delightful place, the rooms were lovely, very clean & nothing too much trouble. The food was excellent as was the choice. The wine too was very good and very reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and always smiling, and that makes for a very happy atmosphere. Our only small gripe was that view from our suites, the garden was rather intidy but we are sure it is a job ongoing. It did not spoil our enjoyment. Thanks to all for making our week so great. We will be back.

Room Tip: The garden suites are lovely away from the main hotel & very peaceful.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and comment on a "superb stay". Its always great to hear that you found the staff attentive and always smiling, food excellent and wine very good and reasonably priced. I do apologise that you found your garden view untidy, you are correct it's not how I wish the area to appear but I am currently waiting for permission from the local council to take out the huge evergreen so that some landscaping can be done.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our guests that have left reviews as we have just gained "WINNER 2012 CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE AWARD" from Tripadvisor and one we are all very proud of.

Kind regards
Paul

My husband and I stayed one night during our walking holiday in the Cotswolds.

Our room was lovely everything you would expect in such an old Inn. It seemed like you had stepped back in time until you went into the modern spotlessly clean en suite.
Food was georgeous, staff were friendly attentive and efficient.

Excellent place to stay we recommend it .

We stayed here for 2 nights just after Easter as a "halfway house" on our journey to Devon, but it proved more than that. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay in this characterful inn, situated in a beautiful Cotswold village, very close to Bourton & The Slaughters. We were impressed by the complimentary upgade to the "Burford Suite" which was a large room yet warm & inviting, when the outside temperature was not! We ate both nights in the busy restaurant & the food was excellent & service first rate. Special mention too for splendid breakfasts with plenty of choice. All in all, "The Lamb" is hard to fault & we shall certainly stay again as an enjoyable part of our journey to the South West.

Thank you for your kind words and that you had a "Great Short Stay" with us. We do try to upgrade where ever possible and I'm pleased you enjoyed the Burford Suite. Your comments
regarding the "excellent food and service first rate" is always great to hear and makes all the hard work worthwhile. Thank you for also mentioning the "splendid breakfast with plenty of choice", a recent review felt that our breakfast somehow lacked something which left me totally baffled!
I look forward to welcoming you back to The Lamb Inn if your in the South West soon.
Kind regards
Paul

My girlfriend and I were over from Australia and chose the lamb inn to stay 1 night as being a good place to see the and explore the Cotswolds.

We received excellent service from all the staff and even the owner had a yarn with us over a late night drink coming in. In the morning, breakfast was tasty and exactly what we needed to start the day.

Highly recommend this place!
