Maybe a bit overpriced with "relaxed" service, but it is all about location, location! Don't go for luxurious rooms with AC and minibar, go for the nature and remotenes instead! Good food and things to do. Worth the visit in Åland.

Room Tip: Basic rooms are quite small and simple.

..very expensive with those kind of rooms.

This place has an excellent location by the sea, absolutely fantastic views to the open sea, excellent staff and some other great things but it also has some major negative points which in total makes this price level ridicilous.

Starting with positive points:
Location and the views are awesome, breakfast is fantastic in quality with the local apple juice, warm bread made in the house the same morning and overall the breakfast was worth a lot. They also have a decent restaurant for dinner (make a reservation in advance) and a nice pool house with indoor pool and outdoor jacuzzi. However, when we there at the pool house, there was no service for drinks, etc. I called the reception and they said somebody is coming but after 35 minutes I got tired of waiting and walked up to the main restaurant (some 100m steep uphill).
Anyway, the staff was very nice and polite - all the points to them!

Then the negative ones:
We stayed in the hotel room which is not worth of this rate. It's pretty small in size, TV is from the 90's and the worst of all, there is no air condition. Our room was very hot all night even the window was open. And the daytime temp was only about 20'C. I can imagine if the temp hits 25'C and more, then this room will become very hard to sleep. Wi-Fi quality was also only so so, slow (1Mb line?) and dropping down every now and then.

Individual houses/cabins on the cliffs look nice but we did not check them inside. With a bigger group (6+ persons), those houses might be a good option and more value for money.

We enjoyed two great nights at this location, with our three year old son. Beautiful views, good service, great food, and a romantic location in the summer. Sauna's, small beach area, indoor pool and outdoor whirpool. Also have great port if you arrive with boat. Would like to come back.

On the negative: the hotel room did not have air conditioning, a major issue on a hot summer night. For those if you looking for a child free location: pool is filled with children. Closest store is 15 km away. Could have had more activities. The Beer tasting lecture is not recomended.

The views to the sea & archipelago are spectacular from the public areas and outside. Åland doesn't really have excelent hotels - this is one of the best but far from perfect. My review is pretty tight because they charge premium prices. I was expecting premium.

There are no hotel rooms with unobstructed view of the sea (some suites and cliff houses do have sea view). The hotel rooms have views of the parking lot but from the corridor leading to the rooms you have perfect view of the sea. The hotel could have exactly the same footprint and view of the sea from all the rooms (and view of the parking lot form the corridor). Stupid design! This is though clearly stated in the room descriptions - it just amases you how badly something can be designed.

TV in the room is absolute crap, 14 inch and in 4:3 aspect ratio with crappy resolution (no international channels, only some swedish and Finnish channels). You couldn't watch the 2014 world cup because the screen was so small that you couldn't see the ball.

There is no A/C (active cooling) in the rooms (or the restaurant) so during summer it might get really warm but you can open the windows. While we're there outside temperature was about +10 C so it was nice inside but when the temperature hits +30C it will be uncomfortable.

The bathroom was slightly outdated - spotless though but was not on the same level of design as the other parts of the complex. The water pressure from the shower was really low. The amenities were packed very wastefully to single-use plastic bottles.

Beds and linens are nice and good quality. However the noises of housekeeping staff can be clearly heard to the room and they seem to start around 9.00 so no sleeping in here.

The Pool house is nice and as there aren't that many rooms very quiet as well. You will most probably have the place for yourself. There is a nice sauna, indoor pool and a hot tub on the terrace with excellent views of the sea. The terrace has plenty of room and comfortable chairs to enjoy the sun and views. There are also steps that take you directly to the sea so you can take a dip.

The restaurant is average at best. The breakfast is really good though. They have some local specialities, everything that you expected to have and on-site baked bread that is still warm. And the bread is definitely baked from scratch - not just heated up. The dinner is a different story. The service is slow and not that attentive - very normal for Finnish restaurant though but not on the level they charge for food. The portions do look great but same cannot be said on the taste. All the dishes that I tasted lacked flavour and were not innovative. I would recommend them to simplify the food.

They require you to sign-off the room at 11.00 if you want to do it later they charge 100€ for that. Also check-in time is 15.00 which is late by scandinavian standards.

Room Tip: Avoid the hotel rooms, based on the other reviews you should stay in cliff houses. The hotel is only...

If you want to a stay with no interference from outside world but still have all modern amenities - this is your place
Breathtaking views of the ocean and cliffs
Private setting
With the stay in your own Cliff house that is beautifully and serenely decorated you can relax, take a sauna go for dinner, have a massage and be one with nature
Impeccably clean and great service ( the Scandinavians tend to be on the reserved side so you need to let your wishes be known and they will make it happen)

Room Tip: Stay at the cliff house

What a great place for a weekend getaway! We were four guys, all in our mid-fourties seeking an escape from the rat race of the hectic everyday life. HavsVidden gave us just what we were looking for. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming and warm.

We had a villa with two bedrooms on top of the hill with completely open views to the sea. We spent the first evening just sitting and admiring the view - with a glass of champagne of course.

We ate lunch once at site during our stay. At that time food was very well prepared and tasty. And I must say, the breakfast buffet was one of the best we've had.

The surroundings of the site have excellent possibilities for running. There are a couple of saunas right at the beachline with a possibility to dip in the sea. Also the outdoor jacuzzi is quite nice even with a colder weather.

But, as a warning, if you are looking for a quiet weekend, do not try to find it here during peak-season. The place is crowded during summer - as one of the hotel personnel said: "During summer it's a whole new ballgame."

I still recommend HavsVidden at any time of the year. And, I will definitely go there again!

We stayed at Havsvidden one night. If we just knew what a paradise the place is and our schedule had been more flexible we had stayed longer. So: if you come here, don't stay only one night. You'll probably feel sad to leave next day. Another tip: if you stay here, book a villa - it's worth to pay for it. Our lovely villa had spacious living room with open kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, large terrace, jacuzzi, and sauna. All this came with a view to sea and forest. Perfect place to come with family or friends. We also had dinner in the restaurant but food was just average and felt a bit overpriced, although they serve nothing but local food. Breakfast was okay - typical hotel brekky with nothing personal twist. Third tip (if you decide to book a villa): bring your own food and booze and make dinner together in your very own and well-equipped kitchen.
