Have just enjoyed another wonderful stay at The Old Bakehouse. What a treat! Even in the middle of winter, there is such a warm welcome at this cosy, historic B&B. My room, with its gorgeous, freshly updated bathroom was a delight: being both warm and comfortable. The breakfasts were fantastic, and nothing was too much trouble for Frances, the lovely host. Colyton is such a great place to base yourself. So, if you are looking for a place to stay anywhere in the Devon / Dorset area, this should be your first (and dare I say only) choice!

My friend and I booked the old bakehouse at the last minute to attend a meeting. In order for us to have time to eat before it, Frances drove us to a pub and collected us. The room was spotless and very well equipped. Breakfast was very good and overall Frances couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommended!

We were made to feel so welcome on our recent visit it was like visiting old friends rather than only our third time at this wonderful B&B. Nothing seems too much trouble to Francis who takes genuine pleasure in the detail that makes a stay special. Her staff deserve a mention too, so attentive and polite..... We love it!

First impressions count. The welcome that I had from the proprietor got your stay off to a good start. The whole ambience of "The Old Bakehouse" was friendly and welcoming. The room was everything that it ought to have been, spotlessly clean, comfortable, warm and very well furnished and decorated. Nothing to make my stay comfortable had been forgotten. After a good night's sleep came breakfast, what can I say? - perfection. The whole appeal of "The Old Bakehouse" is the attention to detail. I have sampled many of these sorts of establishments, very few would even come close. Excellent, and thoroughly recommended.

We booked into The Old Bakehouse as it had been recommended by friends. We were graciously received by Frances, who made us very welcome indeed.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. There were little touches that made the difference between The Old Bakehouse and a run of the mill establishment.

Breakfast was a thing of beauty, using very locally sourced ingredients, grilled to perfection.

For friendliness and cleanliness, look no further!

We received a very warm welcome from Frances, with a pot of tea and plate of biscuits. She organised taxis for us to and from our restaurant for dinner, and made the most delicious breakfast ever - all freshly cooked. She really was an excellent hostess.

The B&B has everything you need really - there's a lounge with plenty of books and (board) games if you want some chill out space, and secure parking for one car per room. The rooms were pretty although we found the bed rather too soft. The shower was excellent, really good water pressure, which is so unusual. I also thought it was pretty good value.

We didn't get chance to look around Colyton but I understand that there are places to eat there within walking distance, plus the tram down the Ax estuary. The church also looked lovely.

The other helpful but unusual thing was that Frances was willing to take a single night booking at a weekend - it wasn't high season admittedly, but the other B&Bs we had contacted were not willing to do so.
