“Lovely place to stay along the C2C route”
Reviewed 17 August 2013 via mobile

This was a lovely B&B in a great location. It is perfectly situated at the peak of the final hill climb along the C2C route (just after Crawleyside Bank), which is also at the 100 mile mark! The owners where really nice and the food was fantastic. I would definitely recommend a stay here!

This is in a good but remote location on the C2C route with a very welcome small tea room attached.
Very friendly hosts Lorraine and Terry met us as we arrived, Lorraine showed us to our small room and very small ensuite. The room is for 4 adults but the bunk beds although long enough for an adult is very narrow, even our granddaughters were struggling during the night hitting the sides!! It even had the smallest TV I have ever seen and no matter how we tried could not get any sound. Curtains a bit thin when the day breaks. Breakfast at 8.30 and check out 9.30!!!
Breakfast was ordered the night before on forms it was OK but the sausages were the worst we have ever tasted.
Evening meal pre-ordered 48hrs in advance was lovely they also have wine and beer for sale which was nice due to the location.
The thing that really got us were the signs!! There were signs everywhere for everything. We have never seen so many and we have stopped in a lot of B & B's all over this country and further afield.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean and lots of clean towels. Bed quilt too thick and heavy for the summer weather perhaps just a sheet offered as it was exceptionally hot.
Would recommend if doing the C2C due to its location.

stayed here for one night whilst doing a cycle ride, wish I could of stayed longer, The rooms are out of this world, loads of room bathrooms spot on, tea and coffee and TV in all rooms. Have to say on arrival the owners welcomed you with a cup of tea or coffee which was really nice. The menu it self was fantastic and all cooked fresh which was nice instead of this pre heated stuff you sometimes find. Again the food was out of this world and the owners/staff could not do enough for you. Really cant say anything bad about this place would highly recommend.

Very friendly and accommodating. Nice log fire to relax after a hard ride. Very well informed about careful gluten avoidance with a choice of gluten free food. Once you are here there is a nice gentle downhill cycleway all the way to Newcastle. Would definitely stay again. Great value evening meal. Make sure you do book as trip into town would be too much with steep climb out of Stanhope. Fayyaz and friends.

Room Tip: A triple and 3 doubles which can be used as singles.

A little basic but ideal for C2C route (from here it is virtually all downhill to Roker!). It is a couple of miles east of Stanhope so you have a trip to make if you don't pre-book the evening meal at Parkhead. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The bike was stored overnight in a locked storeroom.

We stayed here on a C2C trip. The owners are welcoming and can't do enough for you. My partner is a coeliac so has to have a gluten free diet. This was no problem, and they'd even made a special sticky toffee pudding for him, which tasted great. The evening meal was really tasty, the
breakfast was ample and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. What a great place to stay.

Stayed one night while doing the C2C by bike. Fantastic location and great views from the bedroom window. Food excellent (fellow diners agreed). Very warm welcome from the owners. Good breakfast.

Well worth the extra climb up from Stanhope at the end of a days cycling, and you won't have any hills left to do if going onto Newcastle / Sunderland next day !
