“Started off bad but ended on a high note”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

When we arrived after approx 20 hours of travel, including travelling to airports and stop overs we were exhausted. Having a 3 and a 5 year old all we wanted to do was get in our room, have a shower and a sleep. We were told by reception that we may need to wait till midday for our room to be available. This was a shock to us as we have never had to wait for a room when we have travelled internationally before!

Needless to say it was painful sitting in the lobby with 2 tired and unhappy children but there was nothing we could do to change it. To further my disappointment we could see people checking in after us and they were getting taken to their rooms. At approximately 11am I went to reception and asked if they could give me an update, the lady looked it up on the system and told me it was ready.... why didn't anyone let us know????

After the initial disappointment I must say we had a wonderful time staying at the hotel. The rooms were just what we needed (we booked 2x 2 bedroom suites as we were travelling with 4 adults and 4 children).

We had breakfast included and we are glad that we did it as there were lots of options available for all of us. We loved the breakfast but for lunch and dinner preferred to get out and taste all the beautiful food Thailand had to offer.

I have to commend Tiger one of the staff members at Swissotel, he really looked after us and made sure everyone was happy... All the food and beverage staff were also lovely...

The hotel is out of the hustle and bustle of Patong but only 400Baht (approx $12 AUS) to jump in a Tuk Tuk to get to Patong to shop and eat.

The only other issue we had was a leak in our air-conditioning which caused a puddle in our kitchen but when I advised the reception this was fixed promptly...

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for families as the pool (with waterslide), kids club and activities they have available are fantastic...

We stayed at the Swissotel for a week and I have to say the staff there were super friendly and helpful. That is what makes this hotel unique, the staff.

The hotel itself was pleasant and clean. Food was average but service great. Breakfast was a big could do better but as long as you like eggs, bread or traditional Thai breakfast you'll find something decent to eat.

The facilities were great.

Evidence of multiple leaks on the ceilings and the air conditioning spent in our room which leaked all over the floor in the lounge. It was fixed almost immediately though which was pleasing.

The bathroom was seriously small with a massive lounge. That didn't make a lot of sense to me.

Location wise, it's a little walk to a number of local restaurants on the beach and a 20 cab journey to Patong where all the action is. The hotel has a free shuttle bus which make it easier.

Only reason why I wouldn't go back is the location. We had to walk back from a good local restaurant in the dark as all the street lights were broken on the beach. All the near restaurants were empty which didn't appeal to us so we quickly learnt out options. Either, eat the food at the hotel restaurant which was average, go to an empty near restaurant, go to a good restaurant and walk back home in the dark or spent £40 on a cab there and back to Patong where there are hundreds of restaurants.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Lovely family resort with a large pool, slide for the kids & swim up bar for the adults. Food in the restaurant is good but a lot more expensive than the restaurants in town. Staff are very polite & helpful. Room was clean and modern and it's an easy walk to town via the beach which is on a few minutes walk away. I would recommend this hotel to anyone great place.

I came to Phuket with my brother's family for celebrating his son's 8-year birthday. We 3 adults and 1 child stayed for 4 nights. I booked a 2-bedroom Deluxe Suite directly with the hotel by emails and their reply was quick with clear and precise language. As it's my niece's birthday, we paid extra (B594 per night) for special kid set-up in his room. In their reply, they expressly acknowledged that they noted our special requests (with the request items set out by them again in the email). So everything seems perfect and I looked forward to give a surpise to my niece upon entering.

We checked in around 12:30am midnight. Upon entering into the room, no WOW as the hotel had omitted to prepare the kid set-up!! I called them up and they promised to do so on the next day. No special or sincere apology was made, apart from a deduction of B594 from our bill as normal.

Another bad thing about this hotel is that we found the air-con undesirable. It's too strong and noisy (we had turned to minimum already). We could hear and feel the air blowing to our head during sleeping and it's a discomfort. My brother couples even turned off the air con at their bedroom and just relied on the air from the air con at the dining room.

Apart from the above, I think this hotel is a good choice for family with kids for the lovely pool with slides and ball games, kid set-up, kid club (we didn't visit as we were too busy), 3 or 4 cartoon channels (my niece was mesmerized).

It takes standard B750 by taxi from airport to this hotel for 30 mins. We simply took one at the airport counter without arrangement in advance (the hotel quoted us B1300 for a Toyota Fortuner). From hotel to airport, B900 as ordered at the hotel. Standard B400 from hotel to Patong Junceylon Mall (quite expensive given it's a 20 mins ride only if no traffic jam). But from Junceylon back to hotel, the driver usually insists B500 and you must bargan or otherwise walk further away from Junceylon for a better deal. Fare for taxi and tuk-tuk is basically the same.

FantaSea show is near the hotel and we took tuk tuk back from there.

There are flyers for different tours at the hotel lobby and we joined a James Bond Island tour on the niece's birthday with the company bearing name like "Explorer". It's bad. Guide no good, schedule no good and overrun. We were sent back to hotel at 7:45pm with starved and cold bodies (the flyer stated 6:30pm however). We finally ordered food boxes at one of the two small restaurants next to the hotel and dined in our room. Don't want to hang out anymore.

The price in August or summer time generally is very good given it's low season.

Overall, this is a good choice if you have kids. My niece loves it.

Our group of three adults stayed in a 2 bedroom Pool Terrace Suite for 17 days. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the room. The resort itself was very nice, although much further out than we had anticipated, however the resort provided a great shuttle service into Patong twice daily which compensated in part. The rooms were very dated, extremely dark (no natural light at all), uncomfortable furniture, the lighting in the bathroom was terrible, and it could not have been any smaller if they tried, a shame considering the lounge area was so massive. No cooking facilities in the room other than a microwave. The air conditioning in the bedrooms were so noisy we could not sleep through it, the hot water ran out after the first shower, and we had regular power cuts (although normally only for a few minutes). On the positive side, the staff were wonderful, the food served at the breakfast buffet, restaurant and room service was excellent, and the pool was very nice. This resort is far better suited to a family rather than a couple or people without children, as the pool area was very noisy most days. We would definitely not stay there again, as the rooms were not to the standard that we had expected.

Stayed here in July - rainy season so weather variable, but the hotel itself was fine. Breakfast was a great start to the day - available early if off on a trip, and plenty of really varied choices. Nice pool, but maybe a little cloudy due to the rain - filtration must work hard during the rains. Room was OK - large sitting room, but smallish bedrooms - no dressing table or mirror in double bed room and not much storage space.
Really helpful and friendly staff at reception and in the restaurant. Always smiling and cheerful it seems!
Only minor negatives for us were that we thought the mattresses were a bit firm, but our teenage children had no trouble with them. Also, if you're on the reception side of the hotel you'll hear the cockerels from the adjacent dwellings crowing from about 5.00 am, which was a bit annoying - once again though, the children slept through that!
Just to be different, I've added a breakfast time, and a night time photo of the pool, instead of the usual sunny view!
Overall we had a good time and I'd be happy to return.
