“It's fine, but realize that it is not a 5-star hotel.”
Reviewed 22 September 2010

I think that this hotel may be marketing itself incorrectly. Although it gives the impression of minimalist luxury, it really turned out just to be a basic (maybe a slight step above that) hotel in Phuket. The Sea View room that we stayed in was fine, although it kind of had that ubiquitous mold smell one often finds in beach hotels. The "Sleep in Heaven" beds were unmemorable, and the fixtures in the room were cheap. As one poster noted, the soap and shampoo were in big pump bottles in the shower, which is common in Thailand, but the quality wasn't particularly nice, and the bottles were often clogged. Also, they never gave you extra toilet paper! Essentially, there were absolutely no attention to detail at Cape Sienna.

The breakfast was adequate--you can get eggs and fruit and toast. At the pool, it was much easier to go to the bar to order food and drinks and to pay your bill rather than to wait for someone to come over to you. Also, we were there when the hotel was quite full, and there often weren't enough seats for everyone at the pool. Because everyone is so crammed together around the pool and on the terrace (which does have a very nice view), you have to smell everyone's cigarette smoke. We hate that.

It was nice to sit at the Vanilla Sky Bar, on the top of the hotel, for happy hour at night--the drinks are a good value and the view is divine. We would recommend going to the Vanilla Sky Bar even if someone was not staying at Cape Sienna.

If you dislike the beach (there is no beach access), would rather sit by a pool, aren't planning to see the rest of Phuket (see the other posters' comments on getting a taxi), and can get a really good deal at this hotel, then it probably will be fine. It's newer, the food is OK, the view is spectacular, and the staff is very pleasant. Just don't expect the overall quality of a 5-star hotel.

One last note: although children under 12 are supposedly not allowed, there were very small children there during our stay. This wouldn't normally be something to mention, but they were sitting in one of the outdoor Jacuzzis playing and shrieking--for hours. The room doors are thin, so everyone could hear them, plus they showered probably millions of gallons of water down the side of the hotel. Although we complained, they continued on.

Cape Sienna Hotel is located on a cliff with breath taking views of the azure blue sea. It has really comfortable and contemporary rooms , with a private jacuzzi in the balcony, where you can sit comfortably and sip wine and enjoy a book while soaking in the amazing view all around you. Its really quite a paradise for romantic honeymooners and the hotel has a no kids policy. The Spa is also great and the restaurant situated quite favourably with breathtaking views of the sea. Overall a good experience and we would go back.

1. Room looks cheap and bare (There's fine line between minimalist chic and cheap and empty)
2. Expensive (Paid 5000++THB for a deluxe jacuzzi room)
3. Water temp during shower not consistent
4. Water pressure no good
5. 'Sleep in Heaven' beds are uncomfortable. Low quality cheap mattress
6. Marble swimming pool is quite nice
7. View is nice but can easily be found elsewhere
8. Asked for an acct to log into WIFI and its been 2hrs
9. Walls are thin, I can hear people walking outside. I can hear others in the balcony.
10. Breakfast is forgettable.

There are too many other nicer hotels in Phuket for the same price if not less, I will never come here again or recommend anyone else to do so.

Fantastic hotel perfect for a quiet romantic getaway, I returned here for the second time and stayed in a Jacuzzi Suite which was an excellent choice. The rooms are comfortable, clean, with fantastic views of the Cape of Kamala.
Food and service was excellent and the staff were friendly, I stayed here for my partners birthday and we were treated to a birthday cake and an amazing stay at this hotel. I would recommend this hotel to couples looking for a beautiful hotel with good value rooms, particularly in the low season.

We stayed at the beautiful Cape Sienna for 2 weeks in the low season during July. This is also the green season, where it tends to rain. But staying at Cape Sienna, you will most likely use the lovely room to stay out of the rain and relax for a couple of hours.

The view from the rooms over Kamala Bay and the sunsets were a big part of our holiday. We had a room with a jacuzzi outside on the balcony. Recommendation: The combination of a drink, a jacuzzi and he view of Kamala Bay at sunset ...

A few glitches is of course that during the summertime, the occasional stormy weather will be felt on the balcony. A good tip is to keep an eye of when the bar is covered by those attending it. That is usually a sure sign of a bit of bad weather coming up.
Another thing, as others have mentioned here on TripAdvisor is the small ants, that will occasionally visit your room. But that is a small price to pay being placed on a hillside in the nature. Just mind how you tend not at least sweets, and you should be fine.

The staff is nice and genuinly seems to like working at Cape Sienna, which sets a very positive mood.
A short walk away we enjoyed Kamala city as well as the beach. There is a shuttle from the hotel taking you there, but really, it is just a short walk.
There's also a shuttle going to Patong, if you want a bit more bars, shopping and nightlife. To us, this added a nice balance of relaxation and fun. If you like us like to kick it with some harder rock, do not miss out on the drinks and cover bands at Rock House at the end of Bang La Road.

In all, Cape Sienna to us was a treat. And staying in Kamala just presented us with so many different ways of enjoying our vacation, that this is actually the first time ever we are considering returning to the same place next year.

the hotel is as it seems in home pictures, the views are very nice, staff are friendly but here come the negatives ...the only airconditioned areas are the rooms, there is no aircon in lobby or breakfast resturatant, hotel is small, pool is very small, breakfast buffet small, but it is sufficient...our main problems were in the room, we stayed at the sea view jacuzzi room, looks nice when you walk in then we noticed the wall opposite the bed wasn't painted, which is the main wall you look at when sitting on the bed or watching TV. They didn't supply individual toileteries, but had a soap dispenser, shower gel dispencer and shampoo dispencer which we had problems with not working, and when house keeping was done, it seems that they topped up the soap dispencer with water rather than soap! it made the hotel look very cheap!

The wash basin and rain shower had very weak water power, taking a shower took much longer than usual. the jacuzzi took forever to fill and forever to drain! We had a problem with ants, hundreds of ants travelling from the unpainted wall to the mini bar! We had to call house keeping on many occassions to deal with the ants, soap dispencer and cleansiness of the shower. However, my main problem was the bed, the mattress was too hard and the pillows weren't fluffy, they felt old and on the last night after the house keeping changed the sheets we couldn't sleep all night because we were itching like mad! as soon as we stepped away from the bed, itching stops, go back into the bed and itching starts again, we had to call house keeping in the middle of the night to change the sheets!

I wouldn't go back to this hotel and I wouldn't recommend it! It looks all nice in pictures but when it comes to comfortable living, its untolerable! We stayed 5 nights and we thought its probably because it's in Thailand and on an island that all hotels may not live up to standards but we also stayed in other hotels in kho lak ( JW Marriott) and bangkok (Courtyard Marriott) and then we realised no its just cape sienna that doesn't live up to standards!

Oh another couple of things, spa and hotel resturant were very overpriced compared to other 5* hotels we been to. And location of hotel is not ideal, only place you can walk to is kammala beach, we had to take alot of taxis, which brings me to talk about the taxis sitting outside the hotel entrance playing cards and watching everything, every time we leave the hotel they ask us where we're going, we come back they ask us where we've been, we felt we were being patrolled, we hired a taxi from patong for a day, we asked him to pick us up from the hotel but he refused because the taxis outside the hotel would give him problems, apparently we are not allowed to use any taxis but them, we had to use their taxis going into town and they were overpriced again, we had to used their taxi to leave to kho lak and we paid an extra 700Bhat compared to an outside taxi, but the outside taxis were too afraid to pick us up from the hotel, we were not happy with the situation.

Also, other 5* hotels usually have a free shuttle bus service to town as were in kho lak and bangkok!

We enjoyed our stay in phuket but the hotel was the most annoying and frustrating part of the trip.

Hotel is new and fresh, the actual building looks like it is on photos of homepage (ususally hotels tend to be dirtier and less attractive in reality compared to photos). Staff is very helpful and overall facilities are good. Location is like 5 minutes walk from the beach and centre of town. The only downside is the extremelly expensive additional services in the hotel (massage, cleaning of clothes) compared to town.
