“best place in phuket”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

first class place... top notch... just wow.

the suite was just madness... it was huge and very tastefully done up. if you want to cook the kitchen is equipped with all amenities. the bathroom is also as big as the bedroom with a nice bathtub.

service was quick and all our needs were attended to.

food is good, though breakfast spread was the same on all the days. they pack a 'breakfast box' for you if you are leaving early on a day trip.

they have a private beach but since it was raining they didn't put out the sun beds.
kamala is a nice quiet area and the kamala beach road is full of shops and restaurants.

had a great stay here and would recommend this to anyone. one of the bet suites I have stayed in.

Room Tip: take the pool suite

Dear tascha007,

It is with great pleasure to read that you’ve spent such a great holiday in one of the best suites ever and at the best place in Phuket, Andara Resort & Villas. Thank you so much for these massive compliments from the entire team in and around our resort. It is of course for every hotel a big challenge to offer a breakfast that is different to others since the majority of guests just like their regulars to start the day. With great pleasure I would like to inform you that we are currently working on breakfast special which will be implemented soonest and surely ready for your next visit on Paradise Island. Many thanks once more.

This was the perfect location for the start of our wild holiday discovering Southern Thailand, custommade for us by the crew at andaman adventures - they deserve a thumbsup here too! The Andara is truly in the best-of-best class : we could not fault anything. The welcome is very impressive, the staff was so friendly throughout our stay and our room was just superb. The views are unsurpassed. we had a great time here

Stayed at Andara last December, amazing resort, the rooms, pool and facilities are the best I have experienced in my travels.

The service was great, there are buggies always ready to take you to either of the two beach clubs.

Restaurant is good quality, obviously a lot more expensive then the surrounding restaurant along the beach and in town, but worth a visit.

A true world class resort.

If you want a serviced villa rental in Phuket, look no further. The villas are amazing, as is the whole gated community. Staff are efficient, and with full time housekeeper and cook, every whim is entertained. Do remember you are in Thailand so western cuisine is a bit of a mystery, with guidance though they are on the ball. Shopping is done for you, at supermarket cost, they even got real quality pork sausages and Ben and Jerrys ice cream for us. Of course Thai food is easy, coffee on tap, and they are constantly available day and night to provide whatever is needed. The resort is immaculately kept and everyone wants to help, fantastic, second time here this year, which says it all really. The villa had an immaculate infinity pool overlooking Kamala Beach, beautiful gardens. The resort has a great restaurant, and a well equipped gym which was a nice surprise after all the over indulgence. Never been to Andara before, will keep an eye out for any more...it is a expensive I thought, considering it is Thailand, even off season is pricy, glad I had a friend help me out and point me in the right direction.

Room Tip: Go higher up the hillside for better views, none of the villas are overlooked...

Dear Dustyisntit,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a detailed and complimenting review! It is great to hear that you and your friend enjoyed your holiday so much with us. It is indeed a fact that Thailand is not so cheap anymore like it was in the past and also here in Southeast Asia, quality has its price. :-) Thank you very much for your comments about the Western food since it is always important for us to work on everything that is not yet up to full satisfaction to our guests. We will surely look into that with our team. We hope to welcome you soon again here at Andara for some more days on Paradise Island!

After a large search for the perfect place to stay and celebrate our (myself and 4 of my closest friends) 40th birthdays in Phuket we ended up at Andara. It was an amazing experience. Huge Villa (house sized - 4 large bedrooms with ensuites), amazing view, excellent Villa pool, main pool area amazing, v clean, gym and the personnel trainers exceptional, food delicious and the Land of Smiles cocktail PERFECT! Staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable (we loved the birthday cake) and very secure. Extras v reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel.

We have stayed at a large number of 5star hotels and could not fault this one!!! We even did some damage in the hotel boutique (which are usually hard to find anything of value in).

We all plan to bring our families to see what we experienced.

my family was really looking for a luxurious, but true Thai-style experience, which we weren’t getting at the Holiday Inn Phuket, so I called in the aid of a travel agency specialized in Southern Thailand, their name was andaman adventures. They moved us to the Andara which was everything the Inn was not. Really one of the most luxurious resort and grounds, by a quiet, large beach of Phuket. Classy and professional, nothing negative to remark after 5 nights stay !

It is extremely unfortunate that what would have been a near perfect review for the Andara Phuket turned into a security issue for us.
4 days into our 11 night stay (5th July 2014) my husband left his Bretling watch on the nightstand next to our bed (there are no clocks in the room so we used this to gauge the time in the morning) After waking, he chose not to wear his watch on this particular day due to a day at nearby Patong beach.
Upon returning back to the room and eating in the villa with the family he woke in the night and reached to check the time. His watch was missing from the nightstand. We searched high and low before reporting it missing to management the very next morning.
Pascall Frei (resident manager) then proceeded to assure us he was following protocol which includes checking cc tv, interviewing all associated staff and searched the villa from top to bottom. We consequently chose to file a report with the local police.
We escalating the matter with Daniel Meury (GM) as investigations came to a grinding halt.
Suffice to say we never saw the watch again. It was a present and bought for around $5k. An expensive loss.
Having stayed in many 5-6 star resorts around the world we have always been careful to utilise the room safe for passports, cash etc. as we did in this case. The watch however, was not kept in the safe due to its constant use, so perhaps we were somewhat naive.
We have never had anything go missing from our rooms in the past.
Although Pascal appeared sympathetic it was clearly a case of our word against theirs as no associated employee owned up.
He claimed there was no evidence of the theft but this would not be possible unless cameras were operating in the bedroom!
We may never know where the watch eventually ended up, however it did not return back home with us. The whole episode has left a question mark around what was essentially a remarkable resort with world class facilities.
We will not be returning to Andara Phuket and will certainly be more diligent next time wherever we stay anywhere with our valuables.
It is unfortunate we now feel compelled to lock everything with conceivable value in the room safe whenever we leave any hotel room.

Dear frazelledmum,
First of all, thank you very much for your review, concerns but also the compliments, that basically you enjoyed a nearly perfect holiday at Andara.

It is of course also for us extremely disturbing, unfortunate and sad to read your review! As we had very close contact with each other during your stay and especially after the watch went missing we feel very sorry that an incident like that occurred during your holidays and as we showed you during your stay and after your departure by email, we did literally everything in our power to find the missing item. I trust you saw that with all the effort and time we put in it.

Kindly allow me to inform you that: “Of course every hotel follows a certain security protocol and thus of course informs all guests about the room safe and the importance of locking valuables in it at all time. This of course is primarily to protect the guests but also the resort and its team members. According to the international law a hotel cannot be made responsible for any valuables that go missing which were not in the room safe, if there is no clear evidence of stealing, breakage or break-in.”

Of course this is the legal situation and it is our highest priority to assure for every guest a safe holiday in a safe room, and not have to worry about their belongings and valuables.

It is in our responsibility and of course strongest interest to have reliable, honest and faithful employees and we screen our employees deeply prior to employment and train them to excel.

Additional to the staff education we also have clear security protocols like daily bag and vehicle checks of all staff leaving the property and regular spot checks in all staff lockers, body checks and office checks.

We agree with you completely that this does not 100% guarantee safety but as mentioned several times during your stay we never had any issues with stealing by staff, thus so far are quite confident about our staff and the procedure to employ them.

Unfortunately we’ve learned that during your stay your husband’s watch went missing which was of course very disturbing. We followed our regular security protocol which in a first instance was taking up your report and your opinion, which was directly done by me. Afterwards we had our Chief of Security checking the CCTV camera directly in front of your room door. (The footage of the CCTV camera we’ve handed to your husband for your reference) We knew exactly which of our team members went to your unit and there were only 3 staff on CCTV. After deeply screening the staff by individual examinations and questioning we came together with you to the solution that only two had the possibility to even steal the watch since the third staff was not in the room. As a next step we went all together to the police to file the report.

Both of the staff that were involved in the missing watch incident are working with us for long time and had never any incident in whatsoever possible case and are very loyal and reliable workers.

Unfortunately after all these procedures we didn’t have any evidence nor did we have a reason to believe that one of the staff stole the watch.

However, we than filed a missing item report with the police, watch and all pawn shops in Phuket. The police further to that questioned the staff again, checked their bank accounts and loan history and went to their houses.

Unfortunately also after all this we didn’t find any trace of the watch.

As a courtesy towards you and your valuable loss we rebated you two nights of your stay which had the value of approximately USD 2,500. This was surely not to make up for your expensive loss or to admit any wrong doing by Andara or its staff but as a good will.

Last but not least, we would like to thank you once more for your review on tripadvisor and we remain to stay in contact over email.
