“Hospitality ”
Reviewed 26 August 2014 via mobile

My husband got a burnt from hot water from the kettle. I called reception for help with any medical kit and ice immediately only to get asked to transfer to the restaurant to order ice and to get to know the cost for the ice and room service delivery.

I understand that business is business. But I think the priorities are off here and it is a good reminder to any traveller out there to look after oneself, bring their own medical kit, and expect the unexpected after all the hospitality you receive at check-in and all the friendly daily greetings.

Lovely hotel on beach front walking distance to kamala village , hotel also provide shuttle bus service to Patong reasonably priced. Breakfast was first class used room service for meal which was also fine. Hotel provided beach towels hair dryers were fine, iron and iron board, slippers and bath robe don't take slippers home as a souvineer as you will get charged. Wi if in lobby is free there is a charge for wifi in your room as this was our second visit to this hotel we got complimentary wifi in our room. We are booked up again for April 2015 hopefully we will also get the same privilege. Close to airport taxis were very reasonable.

Room Tip: Pool view third floor large balcony quiet

When we arrived at this hotel we were pleasantly surprised with a free room upgrade which was lovely. We had been staying at a 3 star hotel at Karon prior to this and this hotel was definitely a step up in star value. The staff at reception are very very nice and most accommodating. We found the staff in the restuaraunt to be quite ho-hum. They lacked enthusiasm both in the friendly department and service. The rooms were lovely and had a nice outlook to the pool. We found the swimming pools to have very warm water, almost like they were heated. This was a bit of a turn off. Also, this resort is really set up for couples. The arrangement of the furniture in the restaurants and pool area is all arranged in pairs and the pool furniture is so heavy, you have to be a muscle man to move it. This is a really quiet resort also. Wasn't what we were looking for. We only stayed one night of our five but the reception staff were very fair and helpful in regard to us leaving. I would recommend this resort to couples looking for a quiet break. It is in a teriffic position in regard to the beach, shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are really nice.

Having booked this hotel three weeks in advance our excitement turned to fear upon reading a review on T.A with some really negative feedback. We were thinking we'd end our 2 weeks of traveling around Thailand on a real low, but we needn't have worried.

Location: This hotel is in Kamala, a quieter part of Phuket, away from the party side and right on the beach. There is a small strip about a ten min walk away with some shops and restaurants, but for more exciting night life and restaurants that wow you'll need to go further afield than down the beach. (The hotel provides a shuttle for a small cost each day and night for such journeys). We went in August, the rainy season and off peak. This also meant the tide was very high and so not only was there not much of a beach until mid afternoon, but there are no sun loungers provided by the hotel for the beach and it is probably a 4/5 on the clean front.

Room: We were upgraded to a Deluxe Room Beach Wing suite and it had everything we needed. Lovely furnishings and view, though the bathroom and mattress could have done with updating along with a lick of paint here and there, but aside from that it was lovely.

Food: As it was off peak there was only one restaurant open on site (they all serve the same food they are just dotted around the very large site). It was the one on the beach though, which would have been our preference anyway. Breakfast was brilliant - lots of choice, loads of tables by the sea, runs till 10.30. Lunch was less exciting - a menu that at first satisfied, but 4 days in and one struggles to choose or be imaginative. Dinner - the same. All in all the Thai dishes were brilliant and great value but the other dishes were just ok. Room service and pool bar fine.

Staff: Very friendly, genuine and helpful.

Extras:There are loads of pools and sun loungers, all in great condition. There are some indoor activities for when it rains and some lovely lounge areas. One low point was to realise you had to pay for wifi in your room and anywhere else in the resort if using their computers. A good gym and weekly programme involving fitness, pool and cooking classes.

All in all i'd say this was a perfect place to come as a older family, couple or a group of friends not wanting to party, however despite the lack of kids due to it being adult only and the beautiful location on the beach If I were on the hunt for a honeymoon hotel this would miss the mark for me - it lacks a certain wow factor.

In June I travelled to Thailand for the first time with two good friends, we stayed at Kamala beach. The resort was immaculate, the staff friendly although their English was slightly limited. Being out of season only one restuarant was operational, the choices of food were however excellent and if you needed a change take a tuk-tuk or walk into Kamala Village which had a few places to try out. The hotel also offers daily shuttles to Patong which was fantastic as the night life was exceptional and well worth the 20 minute ride each way. The resort also has in-house massage services under a lapa in the garden. Fantastic Thai, oil, head and shoulders massages for 1 hour for THB 300, EXCELLENT Value ( $10, Euro 7, ZAR100). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We traveled to Thailand for a 2 week honeymoon and Phuket was the last place we visited. We stayed at this resort and upon our arrival we were less than impressed. The hotel has a semi private drive, however it appears that locals/hotel staff are staying in not so charming huts across the way in plain sight of the hotel. The hotel entrance was pretty underwhelming, we were given a complimentary refreshment on arrival which was a nice touch, however we were forced to hurry up and drink it as we were not allowed to leave the lobby and go to our room with it. Bell boys did not appear to want to help with getting our baggage to our room on the 3rd floor (there are no elevators). Room was welcoming and the staff had done special things to make us honeymooners feel special which was also appreciated. Otherwise, the cleaning staff did a decent enough job keeping rooms clean (although we had ants in our bed pretty well every night). There was wifi available for free in the lobby, however you had to pay an additional 1000 baht per hour to use it anywhere else in the resort, which was a huge inconvenience as we relied on the internet to plan excursions and where to eat during our stay! It was the raining season, so the hotel was not busy, perhaps this is why none of the activities listed on their activities board took place in the week that we stayed there, and only 1 of the restaurants was ever open. The room service was quite good, but expensive, they charge you an extra amount and your expected to tip on top of it. If you're looking for good thai food, DO NOT eat at the hotel restaurant. Their breakfasts were good, but aside from that its not worth eating there. There are markets and restaurants as well as massage places in the area and its a short distance to Patong beach.
The hotel grounds were nice, but not very well maintained. There are many pools, which is nice, however they're not very well cleaned (always bits/and branches floating around). The beach is not the nicest in comparison to other places in Phuket, and in our week there we could only swim in the water 1 day because the water is quite rough and there is no one patrolling it. The resort was in a beautiful location even though a little further removed from the others, and was still lovely despite everything we said in our review. Our greatest disappointment was the hotel staff (front desk, restaurant, grounds, bell boys). We have never stayed anywhere where the staff was so indifferent. Most of the staff unfortunately failed to acknowledge anyone in the lobby literally every time we walking through, no one every smiled or greeted us with a thai "hello", like they did in other places we stayed at. You would pass staff in other areas of the resort and nod your head in greeting and most often than not you would get nothing in response. The staff were always busy joking and carrying on between them to even stop and notice there were other people around. Worst of all, no one at the front desk could really speak or understand English well enough to work at the front desk. Having worked many years in the service industry, this was unacceptable. I am bilingual, and I know it is difficult to learn another language, but you cannot have staff working at the front desk (the people your customers rely on the most), unable to properly communicate in the language that the majority of your guests speak in. We hope they will be increasing their standards for customer service, because we will not be coming back to this resort, and we will certainly not be recommending it to anyone we know.

Room Tip: Stay on the 3rd or 4th floors, as they are quieter.
