“Wonderful stay at Aquamarine”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2012

Stayed in Aquamarine for 4 days and the reception was good. We had an early check in after confirming with staff over emails and was greeted with smiles and welcomes.

Weather in Phuket was great despite it being low season, rainfalls only at night time or slight showers on early morning. Only drawback was the buffet breakfast was pretty consistent... always had the same menu, would be great if there is more food choices. The complimentary sunrise and sunset cocktails was great. :)

Room Tip: If you have trouble walking on steps, try to inform receptionist to assist and give you rooms closer...

We stayed for 8 nights (Getaway voucher) - 2 adults, 2 teenagers in interconnecting deluxe sea view rooms. The highlight for us was the location of the resort - on a hill overlooking the Andaman Sea, away from the hustle and bustle of Patong. The staff are lovely. We were greeted with smiles, cold towels, welcome drinks and a golf cart ride to our rooms. Staff are happy to ferry you to and from your room each day but we enjoyed the exercise!
The buffet breakfast is adequate, not spectacular. The set dinner in the Thai restaurant was a feast! The 90 min body scrub and massage at the day spa was FANTASTIC! The pools are great, with a few happy hours throughout the day so you can enjoy the "Phuket Smiles".
Kamala Beach is much nicer than Patong Beach and there is an hourly shuttle between 9am and 5pm. We ate at several places in Kamala that we would recommend - Beer House Restaurant, Fino (on the beach), Live Present Moment and Basilico. For lovely food close to the resort walk 5 minutes to White Orchid - great spring rolls and the whole baked fish in ginger was delicious!
If you are looking for 5 star luxury, this resort is not for you. However, if you want an affordable, peaceful holiday in an amazing location this will suit. The rooms are tired and the air con is noisy but the location, staff and facilities make up for it.
The resort offers three bus trips to Patong each day but you need to book a day in advance.

We spent the week here and as part of a Getaway Package got married at the resort. We had a great stay in a Villa and our friends and family stayed in Delux Rooms. The accommodation was excellent with the rooms and Villa clean and modern. the service from staff was extraordinary and nothing was a problem.

Meals are excellent and the happy hours at the bars, made cocktails great to have. Breakfast was included and was huge.

The resort is on a hill and be prepared to walk a little, but there is always golf carts available to drive the short distance to your room if you need it.

The wedding set up was amazing, the staff spent hours setting the pool area up and arranging the area for a perfect wedding set up. we walked down the stairs and red carpet with flower petals and music. Everything was arranged and worked like clockwork, with heaps of photo,s in the resort and beach, we even opted for an elephant to join us, every one loved 2 year old Marino.

The wedding meal was set up by the infinity pool and was spectacular.

The resort is 15 mins by taxi or tuktuk from Patong (400 baht) but Kalama is just down the road and great for a walk around, meals and a beach.

A great place and really recommended.

One look at Aqua Marine's pictures on the internet made me click for a rate and dialled a booking immediately. Despite the odd comment or two about this property on this website, I will have to say, I was perfectly impressed.

Why?

The service, their manners, and their kindness made all the difference. I wanted to stay there and called the hotel directly for a rate. They not only helped me get a top rate for three, they also obliged me with an instant internet voucher. But my ailing father cannot manage the steps in the end, so I had to cancel. It was all done, without questions. They did not penalise me either, and I was grateful for that.

Despite not staying there, this experience has left an positive impression on me. I will be sure to pass the word around about their hospitality. They embody this word in totality.

This should be the way hotels and service industries should operate. Aqua Marine has set an example.

The registration and book in went without a hitch. Aquamarine even sought out if we needed airport transfer when we hadn't provided details. We were arriving by road from Krabi.

The room although a little dark was clean and well presented. The bathroom was unusual in design but clean and met all our needs.

The buffet breakfast was perfectly adequate but the service was not as the syaff at the previous two resorts we stayed on this trip to Thailand. My wife was disappointed that she could not get freshly cooked eggs, but had to rely on eggs that had been cooked previously. No such problems with my omelettes. The set dinner as part of our package could not be faulted. The seafood being replaced by chicken in line with our preferences. We did not eat anyother meals at the resort because they were expensive in comparison to the other restaurants.

A few random observations: The resort is built on many levels on the side of a hill. Great for the views but it helped if you were part mountain goat if you chose not to make use of the golf cart service. One of the concierge staff fished a lottle hard for tips, so consequently didn't receive any from us. The shuttle to Patong had limited available seats and we therefore missed out on that service on occasion and had to take a taxi.

Overall a very good experience that would not take much more to be excellent.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a seaview deluxe room for 4 days and 3 nights.. I must say that their service is outstanding..! We had buggy service to shuttle us to and from the lobby to our room.. They have shuttle service to Kamala and Patong beach.. Eventhough the hotel is slightly further from everything, we had no problems with that..
Daily breakfast had a lot of variety. Eventhough they don't cater halal food for muslims, we had variety bread and eggs..
There are 3 pools.. And view was superb.. We had a Thai Massage at The Lotus Spa and the ambience was perfect.. The massage was a relaxing one too..
I would definitely recommend Aquamarine for a nice short trip away from everything.. Worth every bit..!

We had two sea view rooms for 12 nights. Great location, nice beach close enough to go into Patong but pleased we were not staying there. Hotel and spa staff were fantastic. Hotel shuttle to Patong and Kamala beach.
