This is a fairly new property, the first Hyatt in Phuket.
As you would expect from a new property, there are still some minor details that will need to be ironed out but I am very confident that staff and management will achieve this in no time at all.
Location, the hotel is a 5 minute car ride from Kamala Beach. The beach at the hotel is not nice and rather muddy. The lack of a nice beach is compensated by one of the largest resort pools that I have ever seen! The pool is approximately 75 meters long!!
There are ample lawn-chairs and cabanas. At one end of the pool is the bar, there you will find very comfortable couches to sit on as well.
Check in was smooth and we were driven up the very steep hill in a golf cart to our room. Please note that you will need to be patient when waiting for these golf carts. Rooms are fairly spacious with the usual amenities and a big bathroom. Unfortunately the air-con in the room was very loud and it took us some time to get used to. Also, the room was only cleaned after 4pm unless we called the front desk requesting that they will make up the room.
There are 2 restaurants, a bar and the Regency Club at this resort. Breakfast in the main restaurant, next to the pool, serves the usual selection that you would expect from any nice property. The Regency Club is probably the best place in this resort, it is almost on top of the resort with a small infinity pool, deck chairs and an indoors seating area. This venue is the perfect place for happy hour from 5:30 to 7:30.
The gym just below the Club is just fine and has all the usual equipment for guests to use.
Camp Hyatt is at the highest part of the resort, they have a good selection of games for kids to use and kids can create various craft items. The hotel also offers limited yoga and gym classes on a daily basis, but they seem to get cancelled for various reasons.
The lady at the Tour Desk was extremely helpful and patient with us, I can highly recommend her services.
Wifi works well across the resort. Room service took a long time, although we just ordered basic items from the menu. Active people might want to rent a car or bike as the area around the hotel is very quiet, a shuttle bus brings you to Kamala Beach and back.
Summary, give it a bit more time and this place will get busier by the week. The large pool and the Regency Club make up for the lack of a proper beach. I highly recommend to go for a Club Floor room as this Regency Club enjoys probably one of the nicest views in any Hyatt Property.
Will we return? YES!
