My husband and I stayed at this hotel for four days, after having explored the Central Valley and before driving on to Manuel Antonio National Park, and -hands down- our stay at Hotel Vista Las Islas was the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. We took the ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera and the ride on the ferry across the Gulf of Nicoya was tremendous, but when we arrived at the hotel, things got even better! The view from the hotel is simply amazing - you can see the Gulf, the islands and beneath you the jungle. The owners of the hotel are very nice and helpful - they really want you to have the best Costa Rican experience possible and they try to make it as authentic as possible. The rooms are very clean and offer a lot of comfort, making it really good value for money compared to other hotels (we went during the rainy season, which is not the high season for tourists, and got a good deal on our room) and each room has the same wonderful view. We would wake up early in the morning to the sound of the jungle and would then enjoy a delicous breakfast on the terrace offering the same incredible view. We would spend some time in the wonderful pool and would then drive on to explore other parts of the peninsula. We had a car which made it easy to drive to other places, and the owners of the hotel gave us a lot of helpful advice. I would recommand to rent a car when you visit the peninsula, and also other parts of Costa Rica, since it makes it so much easier to explore the country. Our stay at the hotel was very relaxing, exactly what we were looking for. You are in the middle of a forest, far away from traffic, but you can still enjoy the comfort which the hotel has to offer. For couples and families, this is just the perfect getaway in Costa Rica.

My husband and I had stayed at a fabulous hotel near the Arenal Volcano for 5 nights, but we also wanted to see the ocean while in Costa Rica, so we booked this hotel for 3 nights in March. The journey from the Volcano to Vista Las Islas was a wonderful adventure. We drove from La Fortuna to Puntarenas, then took our car on the ferry and had a lovely ride across the Gulf of Nicoya to Paquera. The dirt road into the hotel was a couple of miles long and very dusty, but it was dry season, so the dust was to be expected. Once at the hotel, the views were gorgeous! Each room has a balcony from which guests have a perfect view of the gulf and ocean beyond. The howler monkeys sing their ever-so-loud tunes each evening as the sun is setting. I had never heard a howler monkey before and was astounded because they sound like huge monsters. It was great to sit on the balcony with an ice cold drink and listen to the intriguing sounds of the howlers. The views from the pool and the dining room were also gorgeous. The owner and his wife manage the hotel, and they were gracious and very pleasant. There is little to do in the area, but that was also an attraction. The peace, tranquility, beauty and solitude was just what we needed before our drive to San Jose, and the hustle and bustle of that city. It was a great way to wind down and end our lovely vacation in Costa Rica.

Room Tip: All rooms have the same beautiful view of the gulf and the ocean beyond.

During a recent trip to CR I have the opportunity to visit and stay at this place. I had a wonderful time. Every thing I experience was great, from the service, to the view, to the rooms. To me it is one of the best places to visit and stay in Costa Rica. A short trip from the airport, then a very nice ride on the Ferry to Paquera, and after the Ferry arrives a very short trip to this spectacular place. The view will be the first thing that impress you. After that you will have a great time at the swimming pool. The food is delicious and compare with what is available in town or at other places, it is a bargain. Rooms are very modern and comfortable. To me this is a 5 star facility. Of course, the price is very competitive and compare to any similar hotel in CR, not bad at all.

RR

Room Tip: All rooms have a wonderful view and all rooms are excellent. Very nice facilities.

You will absolutely need a car to really enjoy the hotel and close by national park - but it's well worth it. If you like luxurious rooms, breathtaking views and friendly, helpful staff, you found the right place! And, no, I don't mind that the pool is not 'Olympia sized'. Who wants work out with such a view to admire?

We were a 2 family group (total of 6 guests) who stayed a week in March. Vista Las Islas and the kind people who run it couldn't have been more perfect to us. I do agree with other posts that English is not anyone's first language, but we took that as our problem not their's and everyone's kind hospitality overshadowed any language barrier we experienced.

We loved our rooms (#20 & 22) which offered great views. The hammock stations were a highlight for us too. We took coffee out every morning for great birdwatching. The food was so tasty we wanted to bring Olga home with us! Breakfasts were plentiful and very filling. I would categorize them as European with a tropical flair, a great blend of fresh fruits, homemade breads, pancakes, pinto gallo and more. A great way to start the day.

The pool was perfect for our group which included an 8 & 10 year old. We loved staying at the resort but the excursions Thomas, Laura & Anya arranged were fabulous too. Thomas took us on the ATV tour which truly was one of the best parts of the trip. We swam in waterfalls, explored tidal pools on the beach and splashed through the surf. Thomas also arranged a driver who took us on a day trip to Montezuma. We made fast friends with Carlos our driver who took us to really awesome stops all along the way. It was an awesome day of many adventues! We also took the excursion to Isla Tortuga which was great, but we were disappointed we were not able to explore the island as we thought we could. The snorkeling was not only crowded but the water was murky. The beach; however, is undeniably beautiful.

Playa Organos was a little dirtier than we were expecting based on previous comments, but we were there during Semana Santa (Easter) and the beach was unchacteristically busy. The beaches at Montezuma and Isla Tortuga were much nicer, but it was still great exploring the surf and taking long walks along the water's edge.

Our dinners and evenings were just great too. The dinner selections changed everyday and always included numerous fish and shrimp options.

Overall, we can't say enough about Vista Las Islas. It offered the perfect blend of comfort and amenities along with great adventure and exploration. Thank you VLI for making our first trip to Costa Rica such a special one!
