“A must see if in Botswana”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

A community run project, now with 6 excellently equipped chalets - outdoor showers, indoor bathroom small kitchen and gas brai/BBQ. One of the best places I have ever stayed, it felt like a real luxury outing but was only P450 (30GBP) a night for two of us.

The gorge itself is very impressive with a choice of walks from 90 mins to 5 hours. For the longer ones good shoes and some athleticism is needed. Cape Vultures add to the attraction. Guides are compulsory for the longer walks and while there is no charge a large tip is really deserved.

They are hoping to build more chalets and add a restaurant in the near future as well as introducing Zebras.

“Community run project which is well worth a visit.”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Moremi Gorge is situated in the Tswapong Hills near Palapye but well away from main roads.
There are really good campsites here with good showers and toilets. All reasonably priced.
The reserve provides a guide who will take you for a walk to the gorge itself, which is really impressive. You can watch cape vultures coming and going from their nests in the gorge's vulture colony.
Zuma, our guide, was really knowledgable, pointing out the tracks of animals including python and leopard. The place has a really wild feel to it. The village of Moremi is also historically interesting ,as the whole village was moved back some years ago away from possible flood danger near the gorge itself. Your guide will tell you about it.

“Worth a visit!”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 via mobile

Only one night at Moremi Gorge is not enough. The campsites are really great with nice braai facilities and neat and clean ablution facilities. Great hikes that should also be done. The approach road may be a challenge in the rainy season and should then only be done in a 4x4.

“Fantastic and personal service from Manager.”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

Love visiting Moremi. Chalets beautiful. Excellent service from manager,' Marie' who personally took us on trails and very knowledgable about the environment, wildlife and surroundings.
Beautiful birdlife and waterfalls.
An absolute must for a day trip or overnight. Campsite not suitable and believe still to develop.

“A lovely place for a little solitude”
Reviewed 13 May 2013

I stayed at the absolutely lovely Moremi Gorge Lodge, which is well run, amazingly quiet and an all around fantastic place to stay. Even the owner went into town the night I was there, leaving me with the crickets, the Kudu and the baboons. The approach road was a struggle, as it goes through some shallow pools, so the only way across was to drive fast enough to make it to the other side without sinking. Perhaps it would have been easier in a 4x4? Also, when they say self-catering, it is a wise man who buys his food in Palapye before he comes: food in nearby villages is expensive and poor quality, as well as being difficult to find. Still, when the accommodation is this charming, and the walk itself is this lovely, this all becomes part of the adventure.
