“You wont think you're in Botswana!”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

What a magical place! Lush green forest (even in dry season). Clear running water, beautiful waterfalls and pools all year round. And rare vultures in the cliffs as well. Excellent guides who know a lot about the area and help you with some of the tricky rock climbing.

Tar road all the way until Moremi village then it is mainly sand which could be problem for 4x2s in the wet season. Staff at the entrance were among the most welcoming and friendly I've met in Botswana.

Chalets (Separate review) are excellent too

“Delightful "Getaway" from Gabs”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Just 4 hours from Gabs, this was a wonderful overnight getaway. The accommodations were beautiful--full sized bed with mosquito net, kitchenette (sink, 2 burners, refrigerator and gas grill plus dinnerware, silverware, pots/pans, strainer, spoons, tongs, rolling pin, you name it, it was in the cupboard), and bathroom with outdoor shower. The only thing that would make it better would be more privacy (we could hear every word our neighbors were saying while we were on our deck and they were on theirs).

Now onto the gorge--amazing! It's so hard to believe that amid all of the winter brown in Botswana there is this little green oasis! We hiked to waterfall 5 which took us 2.5 hours round trip (with rests and stops for pictures). After that hike, we walked on the path from the chalets to reception, which was surprisingly strenuous because it's over sand. The next morning, we woke up for a 6:30 hike to see the vultures. Well-worth the early alarm! I really can't describe how beautiful it is, you'll just have to see it for yourself!

“Breathtaking!”

You can more than literally "get lost" in this breath taking place. Plus, the cultural history of the majestic gorge makes you appreciate and respect it even more.

“Goo moremi gorge acccommodation”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Stayed here one night and would have loved to stay more. The accommodation was fantastic in a self catering bungalow. The guide Twist was great and took us into the gorge a sacred site for the local people. Very reasonably priced. Able to get through with two wheeled vehicle as now have bridges over river and sand is firm. Took walks to bird hide and watched endangered vultures soaring up above. Fantastic experience. Need to ensure that you have all your food with you as no real store in the town. Might need 4wd in wet season.

“A must see if in Botswana”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

A community run project, now with 6 excellently equipped chalets - outdoor showers, indoor bathroom small kitchen and gas brai/BBQ. One of the best places I have ever stayed, it felt like a real luxury outing but was only P450 (30GBP) a night for two of us.

The gorge itself is very impressive with a choice of walks from 90 mins to 5 hours. For the longer ones good shoes and some athleticism is needed. Cape Vultures add to the attraction. Guides are compulsory for the longer walks and while there is no charge a large tip is really deserved.

They are hoping to build more chalets and add a restaurant in the near future as well as introducing Zebras.
