Rapture Surfcamp Bali
Reviewed 29 April 2014 via mobile

We were two travelling together in April 2014. Saw their website through google and man we are glad that we chose them! We stayed there for one week as a total beginners in surfing.. We had two surfsessions per day with instructors from the camp that were really great and helpful. Dicky, Andi and Kadek, thanks for everything! The staff at the camp really makes you feel that you are at home and are really friendly. A great place to meet people and at the end it feels like your one big family :) They have swimming pool, tv area, pool, bar, and stuff at the camp so its really comfortable to chill there after the surfing lessons!

Thanks for everything guys, we will definitely be back someday!

Regards from Iceland,
Sirry & Sara

Back to Rapture again and again and it still keeps giving. Fun super friendly staff great relaxed atmosphere and waves waves waves - rapture provides the complete surfing experience be it getting to the waves in style ( in the combi fleet ) finding the best waves in all conditions for all levels of surfers or then after all relaxing later around the pool after hanging out or cruising to any of the great spots near by the camp. Good people good food good service good waves good vibes - what else could you ask for ? See you all again soon rapture

It was my first solo travel outside the Philippines and I was a bit apprehensive and didn't really want the hassle of planning a detailed itinerary. So glad that my friend recommended Rapture Surf camp, the camp was the perfect solution for everything that i was worried about. their packages include breakfast and dinner plus surf guiding. The food was really great, i liked that you can eat as much as you want and the first thing i missed after going back to manila was writing down what i wanted for breakfast :))

The surf guiding was also okay, I had lessons on my first day out and it was very thorough, with discussions on water safety, where to go in, what kind of breaks we're surfing. It's hard to understand the instructors sometimes but they do teach surfing well. Andy is sometimes too serious, I liked Kadek more, he just seemed so happy to be in the water all the time.

The whole camp is gorgeous. I liked that there are options for all sorts of travelers and still it wasn't crowded and noisy. The place was so chill, you could hang out at the pool after surfing or just read a book and fall asleep on the bean bags.

Another thing i liked at the camp was the yoga studio. :) I practiced on my own several times and also booked classes at the camp.

Overall it was a really great birthday trip for me. Thanks josh and Maggie! I hope to be back next year.

this surf camp is set in a great location with beautiful gardens, amazing facilities and the friendliest staff. I was in Bali by myself and the people at Rapture made me feel like i was travelling with all my friends. Surf guiding was exceptional with guides that had great knowledge about the major beaches and the occasional secret spot. If i could have extended by stay in Bali, Rapture is where i would be right now.

This place feels like home - and was difficult to leave. I spent a week here at the start of a months travelling, and ended up coming back at the end for 5 days. The camp has a homely feel about it - very chilled out and away from the crowds, beautiful swimming pool, and good food which (breakfast and dinner) is included in the accomodation price.

Upon arrival you'll be shown round by one of the staff, and depending on the time you arrive, should be in time for either surfing or a meal. Your fellow guests will be from a mix of nationalities, with lots of Germans and Scandinavians. Lots are travelling alone or in small groups - so introduce yourself to everyone and you'll quickly meet a great group of friends!

The surfing was brilliant - as a beginner I took a few days of lessons to get going. The Indonesian instructors were great fun, extremely positive, and gave good tuition - happy to spend time one to one if there was something you weren't getting. A big part of the learning experience was getting the chance to watch them surfing waves too, and picking up on their techniques. Rapture is perfectly located on the Bukit peninsula, which is home to a number of excellent surf spots (beginner through to advanced) so you're spoilt for choice here.

Josh and Maggie (the owners), are lovely and very helpful. Josh is Australian but apart from that he's a nice guy, and is always happy to give advice on things to do, places to see etc. Maggie has her own line of Bikini's which were a big hit with the girls at camp.

When I returned for my second stay, I didn't book in advance and just rocked up one afternoon with my stuff. Turns out the camp was fully booked - no problem though. I slept on the mattresses in the lounge area and was charged only a nominal nightly fee for breakfast and dinner.

The food here is great! All you can eat breakfast and dinner! Dinner can be anything from tuna burgers to spaghetti bolognaise or local dishes. Breakfast is anything from fruit salad with yoghurt, to banana pancakes (amazing) and toasties etc.

Suni, the lady that runs the kitchen, is the best! As well as cooking, she offers massages after dinner. With 15+ years experience she gives the best deep tissue massage I've had (out of 5 or 6 previous physios/masseurs), and at 150,000 IDR (about 7.50 GBP) for 2 hours she comes in at about 1/20th the price of an equivalent massage in London. Nuff said.

Overall I can't recommend this place enough. If you're looking for a 5 star pampering experience this isn't it - but if you want to surf and meet a good bunch of people this is without a doubt the place to go in Bali.

Room Tip: The deluxe dorm is spacious with a great ensuite. Would recommend getting an AC room as Bali gets ho...

I stayed for a week at Rapture camp and it was sweet!

First the place itself is really nice; it is off from any busy roads and has a well maintained green garden and magical pool and chill-out area which make any time you spend here so relaxing. When you're not surfing you can chill out in the pool, watch films in the chill out area or enjoy a massage/yoga (I didn't do either of these but heard good things.)

The deluxe dorm was a great surprise at how good it was. The air-con worked, it was spacious - they don't try can cram an excessive number of beds in here so you can spread out. The outdoor private bathroom was a nice touch showering outside but in privacy.

The surf camp was also great, I had some lessons and some guiding (going to spots without lessons.) The instructors were fun guys who were great at teaching and fun to go surfing with. I didn't go out with the more advanced surfers but chatted to the guides and they also seemed really nice and were always helping other people find quite spots on Bali to surf (who knew these even existed!) Plus you get to ride around in style in the VW camper with an awesome sound system.

The whole place is very secure and the staff & other guests make your time so chilled out. Just book a room and you'll soon be enjoying a Bintang in beautiful Bali with great people.

If you want to go exploring/partying Josh can arrange a taxi or rent a bike right from the place which is a really cool option to have.

Honestly I dunno where to begin... it was such an amazing time I spent at Rapture Camp. Arrived late at night with a 1 1/2 hour delay and it was no problem at all. Airport pick up just worked perfectly. Arrived on a saturday night so sunday was surf-free and I could relax, hang out at the pool and get over my jetlag. I've never really surfed before but Dicky and the other surf guides took very good care of teaching me the basics. It was a lot of fun and the best thing on the holiday. They chose the right spot for the skills of the group and the conditions on each day and made me progress really fast. Made it down to a 6"8 fish from basically 0 experience. I also bought my own board there and the guys where really helpful in choosing and Kadek even took me to some shops in Kuta.
I really liked the location of the camp, away from the crowds in Kuta on the more laid-back Buket peninsula. Its ways less touristy and instead there are loads of surf dudes around. I would recommend to rent a scooter to get around the island.
There are also possibilties to book Yoga lessons... Sunny gives massages, so its an all around care free holiday. The breakfast is also worth mentioning... got addicted to banana pancakes and you can basically order whatever you want.
Girls: make sure to buy at least one of the wonderful Bikinis Maggie has in her store, they are simply amazing and fit to every purpose imaginable (from surfing to just looking hot).
I can really recommend the camp to everyone who wants to stay in a surf camp in Bali. It has a really nice athmosphere and rather is a home away from home than a hotel... I'll definitely will be back!
