Been to Kaohsiung many times but never been to see the big Buddha until this trip; it was a great way to spend a couple of hours. Take the I-Da bus from outside Zuoying station straight to the museum (about $70 NT). Free entry to the venue, lots of shops and places to eat, and then you get to the main attraction. Bring a hat and some water as it’s hot out there in the sun, but it’s such a peaceful and relaxing place.

This is quite a NEW attraction in the outshirt of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The Museum only opened to the Public in DECEMBER 2011, about nine years ago. The location is on the outskirt of KAOHSIUNG; BUT the transportation is GOOD.There is a regular bus from the KAOHSIUNG High Speed Rail Station. However, many taxis around charging NT$100/person on a sharing basis, only a few NT$ MORE and able to take one to the Museum in MUCH shorter time !!! There are Eight pagodas and the BIG Buddha is right at the back. MANY exhibits around. There are many shops selling gift items; some of them are ONLY attainable from the Museum ! There are few eatery around. The whole place is VERY CHARMING and lots of greenery around. BEST Time to visit perhaps late noon as it will not be too hot then. DO VISIT and ENJOY one of the few GOOD places in KAOHSIUNG

One of the must see in Kaoshiung. It houses auspicious Buddha’s relic. You may join a short half an hour meditation and nun’s dharma advice. It’s easy to reach here from Kaoshiung HSR exit #2 with any 1 of 2 buses E02 & 8501. The temple has a buffet on 2nd floor or open air overlooking garden on ground cafe. The unique No-meat Starbucks is on ground floor too!

So much to see and do... stroll through the many pavilions, each with a different purpose. Library,/bookstore, children’s area, art gallery, wedding chapel, and more.
We happened to arrive at the jade Buddha for the guided meditation with a monk. Very moving and spiritual.
Food, shopping, education - an interesting mix of ancient philosophy and religion in a lovely setting.
