The hotel is old but comfortable. It has free wifi everywhere. Very nice spa. No English speaker or no English signs so you need someone that speaks Chinese to help you around. It has English Channels on tv. Food was open buffer and was ok. Game room has no seating so not a game room...

Restaurant service is worse. They did not replenish food supply fast enough. When you ask them for additional supply they told me to just settle for what is there. The staff are also rude. The check-in staff is not accommodating. Our Japanese style room was average but the bathroom is not functional. The shower and sink are together in one cubicle.

old and not well kept infrastructure, smelly bathroom, both dinner and breakfast were terrible, noisy and bad quality mass processing, not very clean, and it was not even inexpensive. staff were rather unfriendly. we suppose they get booked due to the lack of choice in the area. not recommended unless you absolutely have to stay there.

I Stayed in Wen Kang Guan by the side of the Wuling Visitor Center. It is a little cottage up a small Cherry blossom Hill overlooking the great Pines and plum blossom Gardens of the Wuling Valley.A very Pretty Sight in Late Winter and early Spring months(January to February). Check in and restaurant is at the main Building of the Wuling Hostel 1km away. There are many different stays along the Wuling Road under the Wuling Hostel Group. There is another Hotel up the Hill under a different Management call the Wuling Hoya Hotel.

The service at this Wuling Hostel is excellent. Breakfast and Dinner buffet spread menu changes everyday so you won't get bored. The Service Staffs especially the manager Shu Jian is very hospitable and friendly. She goes the extra Mile to make sure Everything was well taken care for me. She even took the trouble to pack Breakfast for me as I was late for the meal which they serve at a stipulated time. Gave me Wuling Tea leaves and calendar when I was Leaving on the last day.

Truly a good experience in a comfortable hotel with excellent service and not to forget to mention the brilliant scenery that is almost out of this world!

Room tip: If you do not have your Own Vehicle, It is advisable to Stay at the Main Hotel Wing or Somewhere nearer to the Restaurant Like the We Kang Guan or the Plum Blossom villa. Else you may end up hiking up to 6km to the restaurant for meals and back!

To be frank, we only chose this hotel due to our budget constraints (this hotel is often confused with its more expensive sibling, which also belongs to the Hoya Group - Hoya Resort Hotel Wuling) and we came away pleasantly surprised.

The facilities are nothing to shout about - this is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. In this regard, the name "village hotel" is indeed very apt. Do not expect anything other than a room, a simple reception area and a relatively small restaurant. That was not a problem for us as we spent most of our time in the day exploring the sights in Wuling and only returned to the hotel late at night. Location wise, Wuling Village Hotel is the furthest from the main gate leading to Wuling. It is right next to the trailhead leading to Taoshan Waterfall (which is a must-see if you visit Wuling). We drove there in a rented vehicle and there was ample parking space right next to the hotel.

The rooms were clean and functional. Beds were comfortable and the wireless internet was excellent. There were only two shortcomings with the room. First, the toilet was pretty run down as compared to the rest of the room. Nevertheless, it was clean. Second, the room was not equipped with a heater. We visited in May, which is considered one of the warmer months in Taiwan, and we were freezing at night. If you are visiting in December-February, you might want to pack warmer clothing (and maybe call the hotel to see if heaters are available). As we were only staying for a single night, we made do by warming ourselves with the hairdryer.

Service was excellent - the staff at the reception was very friendly and provided us with advice on the sights around Wuling.

All in all, it was a pleasant stay. If you are looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel with killer views from the room, this is not the hotel for you. On the other hand, if you are just looking for a clean and functional hotel to use a base to visit the other attractions in Wuling, this hotel will provide you with just what you need, at great value.

N24°23'49.95" E121°18'25.23" We slept in August 2011 for one night in Wuling Villa (name above the hotel entrance outside) in room 101, also known by its official name as Hoya Inn Wuling (http://www.hoyaresort.com.tw/inn/) at 3 Wuling Road, Heping Township. This is not the Hoya Resort Hotel Wuling (http://wuling.hoyaresort.com.tw/wuling/index.asp) at 3-16 Wuling Road, Heping Township from the same hotel group in the village near the bus stop and Tourist Service Centre. Wuling Villa is 5 km up the Wuling Road where it comes to a dead-end at the Wuling Suspension Bridge and the beginning of the trail to the waterfall.

The next morning we had to catch the 6.30-hour bus no. 6506 to Puli at the Tourist Service Centre. The reception arranged that bus 6506 would start 5 km up the road in front of the Wuling Villa. Many thanks Wuling Villa!
Our hotel room with two queen-size double beds was fine. In the mountains no airco is needed. Wi-Fi is excellent, but only soft drinks at the reception are available. The only complaint was that the double bed was definitely too short. With the sound the Chijiawan River near the hotel we had a good night rest.

Included in the room is breakfast and diner. We had our concerns when we looked at the cantina-like interior, but were totally surprised by the high quality and choice of the food: perfect taste. Only for the food, a trip to Wuling Villa is very recommended. Many thanks go out to the girls (Fish and Lynn) at the reception who arranged our transport to Sun Moon Lake by public transport!
