Confucius Temple in Tainan was completed in 1665 and is considered one of the most important in Taiwan. It was expanded over the years, but also reconstructed, partly destroyed - the current look dates back to 1917. It used to be place of Confucianism study.
Temple preserves ancient Confucian ceremonies, which are conducted on a regular basis. The temple also includes storerooms for the ritual implements and musical instruments that are used in these ceremonies.
The temple was not on our itenary so it was closed for the day when we came across it. However, the temple in sunset was a must go if you want artistic photos for your social media accounts !
This temple is quite beautiful. I just stumbled upon it and enjoyed a look around. Free entry is a bonus for a budget traveller.
It was nice to see however it is not as well looked after as the Lama Temple which is a shame. Still worth a look at the ancient history here. No need to stay long.
A place that needs only 15 mins to complete the tour. Nothing interesting that would wow you. Hot weather makes it difficult to stay
