There is a reason that this place has a perfect record of 5-stars on TripAdvisor. It is LITERALLY perfect. I dont think that I will ever again stay at such a high quality place for such a reasonable price. I felt like we were living like kings in the honeymoon suite. Every single detail down to the door handles and faucets are of the highest quality. That is just getting started. The view, the pool, the breakfast, the staff...everything was just perfect.

Yes- this lodge is a bit further away from Plett Bay, but we found ourselves not wanting to even waste our time with leaving. Everything we needed or wanted was right at Tamodi and the view was better from our back yard than anywhere in Plett Bay.

If I could return easily (not so easy being from the USA), I would do so as frequently as possible. When I look back at my two weeks in S. Africa, our stay at Tamodi stands out as one of the best (if not THEE best) parts.

DO NOT MISS.

Room Tip: HONEYMOON SUITE- worth the extra money.

What an amazing place. We had 3 nights and would love to have stayed more. The breakfasts were absolutely fabulous, the home made granola was something else! and the fresh fruits were beautifully prepared, as was the Tamodi cooked breakfast. Swimming in the pool was a fantastic experience, and the peace and quiet there is infectious. The staff are so warm and friendly and the property is absolutely stunning. I had my birthday there and we would love to go back again next year!. Enrico's on the beach was great for lunch/dinner. It is a little out of Plettenberg Bay but well worth the extra car journey. It really was a highlight in our 2 weeks touring around S Africa.

WOW this place is something else! Most beautiful place I have been to in my life in fact and I have no faults except we only had one night there!! It is stunning - the honeymoon suite was unbelievable, as was the rest of the house, inside and out. The people that work there are so warm and inviting and you really do feel like you are in paradise!!! GO!!

You would have to be extremely fussy to find any faults with this place. It's in a very quiet location with stunning views to the north, yet only 4 minutes from the nearest eaterie (Enricos) and approximately 7-8 minutes from other high quality restaurants in Plettenberg. The accommodation is of a very high standard, along with the service. Owen runs a tight ship, ably assisted by Hastings, Lerato and Nandi.
We were made to feel most welcome and relaxed. Although there are only 3 rooms, this place could hold many more, but Own has gone for 'space' rather than quantity - and the result is spectacular. Oh and then there's the wine cellar, the amazing night sky (low light pollution), the adjacent wilderness, huge delicisou breakfasts - we had 4 nights and wished it was longer....

Room Tip: All rooms were good, but the honeymoon suite is amazing

Surrounded by the beauty of the crags you will find immediat peace. Not only by the nature, but certainly by the fantastic architecture and the passion of the owners. The staff too has the virus to make your stay an unforgettabel one. Perfection or close to it. Go and stay for a fiew nights, we realy regretted we had to leave. You can choose this place to see a lot of the garden route. Thanks to Owen, Hastings and the ladies.

Our stay at Tamodi was truly memorable. Our hosts went out of their way to ensure that we had an excellent stay. The breakfasts we were served were among the best of our trip; they kept us full until dinner!

We did not have the best weather when we stayed at Tamodi, yet we loved every minute of our stay. The views and the rooms were exceptional. In hot weather, lounging by the pool would have been incredible. I think it is the most beautiful pool I have ever seen.

My husband and I like good wine, and the cellar at Tamodi was heaven. The Pinot noir we tried, with the chocolate notes, was amazing, and very reasonably priced. If we had stayed longer (perhaps next time we will), I will make a point of sampling more!

Highly recommended!

We found this gem on the internet and am pleased to say it is even better than the pictures online. Owen (the owner) was there to greet us on arrival and what a magnificent property he has created, the attention to detail was superb and our every need was meticulously carried out. The wine cellar a favourite with the ‘boys’. The staff were happy and professional. The only bad comment is that we had to leave, two nights wasn’t enough to enjoy this outstanding property.

Room Tip: All rooms spectacular

Tamodi Lodge and Stables (luxury 4 star accommodation in Plettenberg Bay) was created by Lynne and Owen Johnston, their inspiration born out of a love for horses and the beautiful valleys of the Crags. This passion is reflected in the carefully designed main house and stable buildings. You will relax in the peaceful setting while looking out over indigenous forests, valleys and the Outeniqua Mountains. Two beautiful standard rooms are available as well as our luxurious honeymoon suite. The property forms part of a natural conservancy area and is also a working equestrian farm with a riding school. We provide a full breakfast, but suggest lunch and dinner at one of the fine Plett restaurants.
