Stayed for my parents 50th wedding anniversary, comfortable beds room was OK some furnishings worn. Public areas of the hotel have been modernised and the service and food is good. Staff are good.

The location is nice and the hotel has the potential to be very good, just needs a bit of tlc.

A good family weekend.

This hotel is in a great location; on the Thames with Oxford a short distance away.
Apart from that I struggle to say any thing more positive, I really never imagined hotels like this still existed the décor of the bedroom we stayed in and those of the friends with us were terribly dated and shabby. The staff definitely tried there best but there was an underlying atmosphere of disappointment, with a massive injection of cash this place may one-day be revived to it's former glory days, but I feel there a long way off.

I took my wife here for a meal, it was a very poor experience. The prawn cocktail was served on a slate slab, with very small prawns sitting on a bed of lettuce and minimal sauce. The main course was a tough pork loin chop served with under roasted vegetables, a couple of carrots and parsnips were burnt on the surface, but the 3/4 inch thick body was impossible to cut through, and had to go back to the kitchen. Overall a dreadful meal, and no real excuses as the place was virtually empty, it was easy to see why.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I would like to send my apologies for how you found the standard of the food on your visit. We must have fallen below your expectations on this occasions which is quite rare for us when it comes to the quality of the food as many of the reviews and guests are extremely happy. Now under new management, we are pleased that we now have a nice, new restaurant, bar and patio menu available for all,

Kind Regards
Rob

The owners need to spend some money on this place. The other reviews about the tired, uninspiring condition of the hotel sum it up 100%. It's a real shame as the location is superb.
The food & restaurant service were average too, taking far too long to serve us given the lack of diners.
It could be so much better, but really needs a serious refit.

We had booked here to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary as we had spent our wedding night here. On arrival it was very busy and it turned out that a wake was in progress. The problem was that everyone there was very merry and the bar and small restaurant was so loud it was unbelievable, I became very upset as I had planned this for my husband and I for a while and it was just ruined. We ended up going into Wallingford Town for a meal and returned byb9.30 and went straight to sleep. Disappointed was an understatement.
Room very roomy but to use the hair dryer meant the holder for it dangled by the lead and the kettle was placed away from the tray of milk and coffee - actually, it was placed on the bed side table.!
We will add to this in the morning once we have experienced the breakfast.

We have recently returned from an enjoyable 2 night stay at the Shillingford Bridge Hotel, as has been said in other reviews the hotel does look a bit tired in places and could maybe do with some redecoration but the staff were friendly, it is very clean, the room was a good size and very comfortable and it has a fantastic location on the banks of the River Thames. Access to Oxford was easy with a park and ride car park just few miles away. Our room was on the first floor with a pleasant view across the car park to the river. We ate both nights at the hotel and the food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast had a range of cold food and also table service where you could order a full English breakfast or a selection of other hot dishes but for some of these you did have to pay a supplement.
