Owner description: This cave on the water along the rugged coast in Arecibo contains a number of Taino petroglyphs. The views of the north coast are amazing.

I combined the visit with Utuado (lunch at Lago Dos Bocas and Cueva Ventana). You will only spend an hour or two here, so you should plan the trip with other local attractions.

The cave is located on private property, and they charge 2 dollars for parking and 50 cents each person. This is very very reasonable. The owner gives a brief history of the property before you head out.

There is a small unkempt shack where they sell refreshment, beers, and food.

There are two attractions: the Indian cave and the view of the arched rock formations.

Definitely worth it.

Easy to find. The drive towards the location was scenic. The view prior entering the small cave was beautifil. The 40 foot lader was swell tied and in good conditions. Must have good reflects to walk on the rocks. Pick a spot, sit, close your eyes and enjoy the sea breeze, warmth of the sun. Bar owner charges $2 parking and .50cents to use the bathroom. Unfortunately there is no supervision to avoid the people damage the petroglifs. Watch your step because it will be difficult to provide medical assitance if you hurt yourself.

If you like nature and exploration this is for you. Not a big cave, is easy to explore. You will see historic Taino indian carvings on the cave walls. The beach is near by and great place for taking pictures.

We drove out from San Juan to hit Arecibo Lighthouse, Indio and Ventana. The Rio Camuy Cave Park just read too structured and commercial for our wandering interests.

Unless you have kids who want to play in a dinky water park, forget the commercialized lighthouse and head straight to Indio. It is still $2 to park and $.50 per person to wander on your own. We took Peter up on the offer of a guide for no set fee, just tips after the tour. That was a smart move. Peter didn't stop relating history and references to movies filmed there. We saw many interesting points we would have missed without Peter. I'd suggest wearing the same hiking boots you will need for Ventana. The sea views and rock arches are fabulous. The carvings on the cave walls are quite fascinating. If you're up for snorkeling, you can rent equipment in the parking lot. Definitely visit and try to find Peter to take you around.
