This holiday home is in a beautiful area of southern France surrounded by beautiful scenery and loads of wonderful vineyards. You can travel down through Narbonne and be swimming in the Mediterranean within a short period of time. The local village of St. Andre has just a few amenities but has a lovely ambiance. The holiday home is superb, and very homely along with the quirkiness of a traditional French home. The home suited our family and accommodated three generations comfortably, especially the ground floor bedroom with adjacent shower room that was suitable for anybody not able to manage stairs.. The pool and area along with a beautiful garden suited all, and we all loved being outside on the patio from our breakfasts to our barbecue dinners in the evening when all the solar powered coloured lights came on. Dawn & Chris were amazing and so helpful with anything we asked, and with suggestions for our holiday activities. All in all think this holiday home is our favorite, and would definitely go back whenever possible.
Fantastic location in a national park, surrounded by vineyards and wonderful scenery. The rooms are all good sizes, with great facilities. Ideal for relaxing by the pool, or for using as a base to visit Spain, Carcassonne or Sete (etc.). The village isn't huge, but the essentials (bakery, bar, post office and pharmacy) are all covered - the nearest supermarket is only 15 minutes' drive away. We had a wonderful time there, and would happily stay again.
My family and I have just spent an idyllic week in 'Le Salamander's in the peaceful village of At Andre Dr Roquelongue. Despite its peaceful setting, there is lots to do close by, but a car is essential for things like going to the beach or visiting nearby towns, chateaux, or tourist attractions. The house itself is quintessentially French with lots of antique, rustic furniture, old stone walls and fittings that wouldn't be out of place in buildings twice it's age. The owners (Dawn and Chris) were waiting for is when we arrived to give us the low down on where things are and how to manage hot water and the all-important pool, but everything was well appointed and there was nothing we needed in terms of day to day chores (washing m/c, dishwasher etc all in situ). A big thanks also to Fred and Vidal in the local pub/restaurant called 'Le St Andre' as they were friendly, knowledgeable and Vidal is a talented photographer. I have to say though, our time is at an end. A week is never long enough, but on this holiday, I fear a lifetime may not have been enough either...I adored this place and we are sure to return (God willing) in the future.
We spent a few short days at Salamander and found it so lovely. It is set amongst vineyards in a very quant little village. The village itself has a few shops of necessity however the beautiful town of Narbonne is approximately 20 minutes away. Salamander has a beautiful homely feel that expresses the love and simplicity of the life of the owners. There is more than enough space, the house has all that is needed and the patio and pool area are wonderful. We would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle.
Beautiful house with everything you could wish for. Well equipped kitchen and I was in heaven with books everywhere. We had hours of fun in the pool and the wifi speed was good according to my daughter! The bakery in the village was just a short walk away and it was not far to drive to Narbonne. Very welcoming and helpful owners - definitely recommend this place was sad to head home.
In a quiet village yet within easy reach of so many wonderful places to visit. The coast is lovely (Gruissan, Narbonne-plage) the surrounding countryside is great (Abbaye de Fontfroide, Lagrasse, wine tasting) but if you just want to relax, the house and grounds are just perfect. Have a dip in the pool, catch some rays, read a book, have another dip then, later, sundowners on the patio and a barbecue. What's not to like?
Thanks for an awesome regenerative holiday, loved the little town .Would come back in a heartbeat, we loved our stay.
