We have just returned from a 7 night stay at Quilty Cottages. We are 2 adults & 3 children (18,13 & 10). We booked the week through Irish Ferries & got a really good rate as the children in Ireland had gone back to school & therefore off-peak. We didn't use the onsite facilities as much as we'd planned as the weather was nice so we spent days out but the one time we used the pool we were lent swimming caps to use which I thought was really nice as I had expected to pay for them.
On arrival our property & bedding did smell a little musty but a spray of Fabreeze & washing the pillow slips did help & certainly wasn't cause for complaint. Probably typical of a cottage which had been closed up for a short time but is worth the owners taking into account for the future.
We missed our outbound ferry so were late in arriving but a quick email to Danny & we were given directions & details of which cottage we were staying in. We didn't arrive until 12.30am so it was nice not to have to disturb anyone on our arrival.
My youngest daughter had surfing lessons from Preacher at Spanish Point beach & as an absolute beginner was standing on the board 'catching waves' as she put it, within 10 minutes. There is plenty to do around the area & a couple of nice restaurants in Miltown Malby - I would definitely recommend The Bakehouse.
The owners were very helpful whenever we needed them & let us have a late checkout on the last day which meant we could take our time packing as our ferry wasn't until 21.00.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Quilty cottages. As Danny says they don't claim to be 5* accommodation but the view & location are certainly 5*+
