“Fabulous Location”

Just had 5 nights accommodation at Acacia Lodge. Unit 5. We were really comfortable in this studio apartment. Quiet. Good view across the pool to the harbour.
Managers Denise and Chris are extremely helpful and very pleasant people, contributing to a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Lots to do in the area. Great beaches, and a lot of history to soak up.
This has been a tremendous holiday

Room Tip: Our downstairs corner room was great

Beautiful spot overlooking Mill Bay - just stunning. Very comfortable and great hosts. Property a little tired but very clean and good comfortable beds. First time I have ever seen a flannel especially for removing make up - nice touch! Good pool area for relaxing around.

What a location for a motel right on the waters edge in an ideallic inlet in one of the prettiest villages in NZ. Only 10 minutes walk or 1 minute by car to the village of Mangonui but a walk with stunning views on the way you hardly notice the time passing and should not stop you staying here. Mangonui has great cafes and restaurants the Indian and the Thai are particularly good. The motel is comfortable with a good pool and ample parking. The 1970's style bathrooms could do with an update but they serve the purpose. Bedroom, lounge and kitchen come with all the comforts you need.

Room Tip: A ground floor unit by the pool will spoil the exquisite view of the bay from your room. First floor...

We booked well in advance and were just as disappointed as "good4trav". It was us walking around on the floor above you ... and we could also hear conversations held in adjoining rooms where people were only talking... not good at all. Water in pipes could clearly be heard from both rooms to our left and right and people walking anywhere seemed to travel directly to us.

FREE Wifi was touted on their website and when asked about it... the Free is for 30 minutes... the rest you get to pay for. Thats actually not Free Wifi - thats a complaint to "The Golden Chain" network - which I will be making shortly.

Materials in the room guide were a year out of date and the reception TV was a pile of static from one channel to the next. The bathroom was very dated and there seemed to be a water leak above the main entrance door to our room, which was odd as we were on the top floor. At the time they had run out of sheets and forgotten to order any and the male manager of the two seemed to spend his whole day out fishing while his wife ran the place. On the whole tragic. We will not be returning. Not the best for my special birthday out of town getaway. :(

Room Tip: Do not book - arrive and pop in to check on facilities ... do a walk around and compare prices and f...

Lovely views from the small deck over the little harbour of Mill Bay - very historic area.
The room was very comfortable - loved the huge firm bed with lovely bed linen.
Whole room very comfortable.
Ample space in bathroom. small modern kitchenette.

Very quiet. Excellent

Room Tip: Upstairs units give best view and having the balcony to sit out on was great.

This property was exactly as promised. Clean, comfortable and convenient to the nearby cafes and shops of Mangonui. I was pleased to get a room on the ground floor with a lovely view of the pool and the estuary beyond. Everything was very compact but that was not a problem for us. Would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family for an affordable option.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the ground floor!

We had read the many glowing reviews of Acacia Lodge, so perhaps our expectations were too high, but we were quite disappointed in it. The room felt more like a barracks or university dormitory with its cinder block walls and industrial-feeling shower. The bathroom as a whole seemed quite dated and was very small and difficult to manuever. Noise abounded and traveled too well, especially from the room above ours, in which the floors were very creaky and water traveling through the pipes was quite loud. Overall, there must be better choices in the area, if not in Mangonui then in neighboring communities.
