“Great location, lovely cottage, very friendly owner, we loved it all!”
Reviewed 6 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This lovely cottage with stunning and always changing views over the bay (with seals!) is situated in a lovely and very quiet location. It has all you will need provided and more. It is a bit of a hard drive to and from Ballydehob (and the main road), being at the end of a country lane, but we actually loved that! The area is very nice, with loads of things to see and do, or you can just stay home and enjoy one of 5!! seating area's around the house. Thanks a lot Kathleen!

“Stunning”
Reviewed 22 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

After 2 nights in the bustle of Dublin, we traveled to Ballydehob where we met the wonderful owners of Heron's Cove Cottage. They led us through the beautiful farms to the home by the water. The cottage has everything you want and nothing you don't need. It is cozy, the beds are great, the kitchen is modern, but you have the feel of a country cottage. The views are stellar, with a nice walking area down by the water, cows on the property.

I cannot say enough about it. It was a wonderland and such a wonderful escape from everyday world. There are plenty of day trips from even this seemingly remote sight. Will definitely be back!

“Fantastic cottage with wonderful views”
Reviewed 17 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage, very well decorated. Everything we needed was already there, we felt like we were invited to an Irish friends house ! For us, and our kids, it was lovely to be in such a quiet place, with direct access to the sea. We really enjoyed our week and we would definitely recommend it to anyone.

“Idyllic and peaceful with a touch of warm and friendly.”
Reviewed 23 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Herons Cove Cottage is a lovely and comfortable place to stay with everything you need for a relaxing break.. It is in beautiful location by the sea where you can enjoy the wonderful views or stroll down to the waters edge for a paddle. Kathleen and Tony are very friendly and helpful hosts who helped and supported us when one of our party took ill. The cottage was homely and immaculately clean throughout. A real home from home - we loved it.
It is near the small village of Ballydehob where you can get grocery supplies or treat yourself to a meal out there. There are also lots of friendly pubs and Irish music which we also loved.
A short drive away is Schull - a quaint place to visit, and Bantry with its shops and fish restaurants. Everyone and everywhere was friendly so we will be coming back.

“Lovely, homely and private ”
Reviewed 21 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

I stayed at the cottage with my mum on a surprisingly sunny February weekend to attend a bread making course on nearby Heir Island. The cottage is in a lovely picturesque rural location with a sea view and the owners are extremely helpful during the booking process and on arrival. It was the perfect location for us to have two days touring west cork and only 20 min drive from the boat to Heir Island.

You will need a car to easily access the cottage as it is off the beaten track (huge part of its appeal), but the owner Kathleen kindly met us to show us the way to the cottage, answer all of our questions and recommend local sites/restaurants etc. If you need wifi (which unfortunately I did!) you can pay a little extra and it's fairly fast and consistent.

The cottage has two double bedrooms (one ensuite) and one twin room, so perfect for a family trip.

We're hoping to go back for a longer trip next time!

“Great family New Year's break”
Reviewed 10 February 2016 for a stay in December 2015

Having previously escaped alone to Heron's Cove Cottage, I returned with the whole family for a week over the New Year 2015/16. The weather was incredibly stormy across the country that week but somehow the sheltered spot where the cottage is seemed to escape. We all enjoyed leisurely strolls on the beaches (well wrapped in jackets) and scenic drives, interspersed with some craft shopping (yes, most of the craft shops were open during the holiday season!) and relaxing in Budd's (cafe in Ballydehob) over lunch or pancakes and coffees.

The kids (aged 7, 8 & 14) all enjoyed it, with wifi and multi-channel TV to fill in rainy hours and early mornings.

Kathleen decorated the house so between the Christmas tree and decorations, and the log stove, it was the perfect cosy home away from home for the week. The icing on the cake was greeting the new year outside on the wooden deck overlooking the sea!
