“Really great place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2012

We really enjoyed our stay here. it our final day at this hotel a d the last 8 days have been bliss. We will give u an overall view of our stay.

Great
pool view, friendly staff, ultra efficient maids, relaxed, attentive staff, free golf buggy ride to main rd, 2 pools, restaurant view, omelette. it really has been a great place to stay. hotel food is nice its a little bit more than on the main rd but it comes with a great view and service. avg dish 150 bht beer 100 bht.

There are only 2 things that can be listed as not so great and these both come under heading of location.

Not so great
garden view, the garden is still growing so if u get a bungelow that faces out you will be looking through the mangroves to the neighbours house. this said the view from the window was off the charming pool.
Distance from main rd, although hotel provides free shuttle to main rd. u can only walk to chalong pier in the morning when tide is out other times u have to walk to main rd. it takes about 10 mins to get to bottom and similar to walk through chalong.
Even though location is listed as not great it is absolutely fantastic in another sense as its right on the sea with a view that is spectacular. u cant swim in sea because its really a port and the water is not great but u have a pool inches from the sand so that makes up for it.

We got a good deal on this and paid 1200 bht per night and that included breakfast for 2 people.

Enjoy ur holiday

Good overnighter if you planning on diving the next day from Chalong Bay. My room was very spacious, clean and attractive. Dinner on the beach was a pleasure with a stunning sunset across the bay. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. breakfast was a buffet with ample choice between western and Thai. Will recommend this to fellow travellers and divers. However only downside was the noise from fellow guests which went on well after 2am.

We had a garden villa - nice enough but quite dated. Air con would make a terrible noise if turned up to a reasonable level, so we had to suffer a very hot night in order to get some quiet sleep.
Breakfast was one of the worst i have experienced in Thailand - small hot dogs and cheap ham floating around in cold water???!!! No butter for toast, not offered tea or coffee once.
We were there for a wedding so thankfully only one night.

We only spent a night here on the way over to Koh Phi Phi as we arrived too late for the ferry. Stayed in the cheapest type of room so can't comment on the others. Room was clean but small and had a few mosquitos. The walls were quite thin you could hear neighbouring rooms quite clearly. I would recommend booking your ferry at the airport or before you get to the hotel, we paid over the odds but didn't have any choice once we were there. The beach front pool was nice but didn't have many sun loungers (The beach is not for swimming but the view is nice). Bit longer than expected to walk along the road to the pier as the hotel is a way off the main road but not really a problem. Had a very nice meal at the Kang Ean restaurant and left early the next morning. There was nothing wrong with this hotel at all and it's fine for a night but it lacked the charm that alot of the places we stayed in Thailand had. (Don't book the prepaid vans from the airport, walk out to the right and take a meter taxi)

Room Tip: Maybe spend a bit extra on one of the villas, the garden rooms are very basic

This hotel is a hidden gem. Its location is ideal for relaxation and tranquility beside Chalong bay, with the yachts in Chalong Harbour. Especially after a long day touring/exploring the island. This is a very good hotel with two good pools, both are suitable for children but no guard on duty. Our room was a good size with a good shower and tv and mini bar. The breakfast was good as was the hotel restaurant food. The staff here were fantastic doing all they can to make sure your stay is memorable, in this they succeeded. We also used the massage spa which was very good indeed. We would also like to say a huge thank you to Tony the manager and to Annas the food and beverage manager who really did their best and made our stay at Ao Chalong memorable. We arrived in august and Tony really tried hard to heal my bad burn, so if you read this Tony please accept my heartfelt thank yous

A great little retreat if you seek just rest and peace . Come here to chill , read, meditate . Don't expect a swimming beach cos it overlooks a beach that serves as a landing and docking area .

The two pools on the property make up for this deficiency . One overlooks the ocean and the other in the middle of the property . We booked into a poolside villa that has ample space within , inclusive of an outdoor kitchen area , clean separate shower and toilet. The bed is of a futon style on a raised platform ( watch your step at night if you need to use the washroom ) . The kitchen area has ample worktop space and a huge closet . If only a couch could be included for comfy lounging .
They maintain the grounds very well.

The onsite restaurant serves good food but boy are they pricey . Use them only if really needed.
Otherwise use the courtesy transport the hotel provides to the main road via a golf cart. To the immediate left of the main road there is a little coffee shop restaurant called sentai ! Omg !!!! Divine cheap food and they have wifi !! You can lounge in there for hours if you wanted to . It's run by a young couple and he's an awesome chef . Try their massaman curry and fried Phuket noodle .
A little further up the road is another local place , across the street next to the gold jewelry store . Great noodle soup there.
Across the street from them is a little outdoor place with blue plastic table clothes ... Great food at reasonable prices . The 7/11, tops, tesco is further up the road .
You can give the hotel a call for pickup from the main road , to return back to the hotel or walk back along the beach in the evenings when the tide is low . Along this stretch there are some local restaurant choices as well .

Can't comment on their spa cos I found the prices too high to give it a try .
600 baht for a 60 min oil massage !!! Whoa !!!

So come here to chill and eat good food from the locals around you . Don't expect too much from chalong . It's not patong .
I like my accommodation and the location as they serve my current needs . :)

We stayed in beach side villa no.106. Excellent views over the harbour and bay with the gentle sound of lapping waves just meters from our balcony. Everyday the scene was different depending on the tide and the commings and goings of the miriad of boats on the bay. Unfortunatley being the off season the resort was renovating the beachside infinity pool, which we were not made aware of until our arrival. it did detract from the peacefulness that we had sought by staying here, however after asking the management they gave us a reasonable discount. There are two pools so we did not miss out on relaxing by the pool in the lovely garden setting. The staff were friendly and attentive but not "in your face" and a special thankyou to "Boon" our charming and vivacious, english speaking breakfast waitress. The breakfast was a bit lacking in variety but again being the off season and few visitors we still enjoyed the tranquil setting and staff were keen to accomodate our requests for eggs "any style"!
The restaurant setting was lovely amidst the central garden and the food was quite good, although apart from breakfast we generally ate in other places such as a short walk at low tide along the beach to the Keang 2 restaurant on the beach.

We could not fault the cleanliness of the rooms and beautiful gardens which the staff obviously took pride in, including cutting the lawn areas by hand with garden shears!!

The golf cart service to the main road was well utilised and once on the main road it was easy to flag down a motor bike taxi or tuk tuk and there are a number of good eating places and bars within walking distance such as in Pier road. Just next door is the Ah chalong Yacht Club where we were made very welcome by the members and staff and spent many a relaxing hour talking to the "farangs" and yachties from all over the world. We even had a wonderful day sailing to Coral Island, with snorkelling and lunch, on an aussie couple's yacht.

The spa treatment was more expensive than in the town or the main road, however the spa room was clean and comfortable and very convenient. ie a relaxing Thai massage, manicure and pedicure then fall into the sparkling garden pool!! mmmm

We would definitely stay here again, especially when the front pool is finished, and would recommend this resort for the value for money, cleanliness, tranquil and interesting setting, and attentive staff and management.

Room Tip: Go for the very front villas ie 106 and 107 at only around $70-$80 per couple per night (including b...
