Certainly with a quick visit while you are there. There are some nice views from the view spots. It doesn’t look quite done inside or as you walk up but sill.. it’s a big Buddha.

Worth the taxi ride there and back, with a great dolphin show along the way, my young kids really enjoyed both

I rented a motor-bike for $8 and rode from Patong, giving me the freedom to stop at Karon and Kata Beaches. Wise decision. Everything on my own time. It's nice that street signs have English subtitles, for lack of a better definition, but the directions to The Big Buddha are relatively non-existent. Got lost, but that was part of the fun. When I arrived, there was a lot of construction going on so access was a bit limited. Views are great, the atmosphere tranquil, and Buddha was immense. There is a lot to see on the grounds but my favorite part was getting blessed by a Buddhist Monk as I exited the gift shop. Note: there is a requirement that legs and shoulders of women are covered. No worries, though, if not. For very small donation they will provide a wrap as you enter. Definitely worth the time.

We did a small group tour to Big Buddha, and I would recommend it to anyone. Great spots to learn, and take great pictures.
