We had such a great stay at Moorfield in 2011 that we treated ourselves again this year! The wonderful hospitality was just as we remembered. Lin and Bobby have created a tranquil retreat which is consistently high quality in every aspect. Lin's cooking is something else - and her Bircher museli is a great way to start the day. Wonderful crisp bedlinen, light and spacious.
Everything you'd expect from a 5* hotel, but with real personality and a lovely relaxed informality. We'd highly recommend Moorflield - it's a real find.

Room Tip: The Spa suite is great, but actually so was the Bay view suite - we've tried both. Only three s...

Thank you P&P for enjoying your stay with us for the 2nd time! We are finding numerous return guests coming through again this year and it gives us the confidence that we are doing something right. We do our best to give our guests more than they expect, and it seems we hit the jackpot with you guys - so nice to hear your kind words - it makes all the effort so worthwhile.
Whilst we know that not everybody has the sam expectations, we try to please across the board, going that extra mile time and again.
Thank you again, take care and God Bless.

This is truly an exceptional place to stay. Lin is such a lovely, welcoming lady and such a gracious host. In addition a talented chef/cook the variety of breakfast choices for all palates will not dissapoint We even got treated to champagne on arrival, and its little touches like that symbolise how Moorfield lodge maintain its 5* quality. The spa leisure suite is heavenly, the architecture, design, attention to detail are plush, prestine and basically top-class. Words can't summarize how astounding this gem of a place is so my advice is for everyone to go along and experience it for themselves. Though shall not be dissapointed. Value for money is fully reasonable. It was a short weekend stay is the only regret that we have. Hopefully be back in the near future. Thankyou Lin for you great hospitality Lin and keep the high standards up!

My fiancee and I stayed here for three nights and can find no fault with this lovely and inspiring place.

Circa 10mins drive from Letterkenny, we enjoyed the warm welcome (lovely tea and fresh, light scones on arrival), chocolates in the room, plush, pristine bedding and ample breakfast choices, deliciously prepared. The owner, Lin - a pleasant and interesting lady/businesswoman - clearly pays great attention to detail, but more importantly seems to be travelled and experienced enough to have developed a savoir faire with real, international boutique standards and a most tasteful sense of style and decor. Most useful were her (well-founded) recommendations on where to eat in the area.

In order to maintain the beautiful interior, guests are asked to wear slippers, which are provided (normal practice in many parts of the world but we Irish lag behind here...) and asked to avoid eating or drinking in the bedrooms, so if you are of a more carefree/laid-back persuasion, you might want to consider this. We had no issue with this at all - the slippers only added to the cosy homeliness.

Moorfield is not a cheap place to stay, but then I suspect Moorfield will attract the aesthete and not the bargain-hunting traveller. This is an award-winning bed and breakfast, and justifiably so. Considering the architecturally-designed spaces, the luxuriously restful beds, the impeccable service, views of the sea, etc, we consider the rates entirely reasonable and will certainly be coming back.

Paul, thank you so much for your kind and complimentary review on our B&B - I am absolutely lost for words as to what to say, except that we loved having you and so look forward to welcoming you and your friends back this year.
Running a B&B is hard work, especially with standards that I set for myself, so when someone shows their appreciation as you have done, it means the world to me - thank you.
We have just been Approved by Failte Ireland as a 5* B&B and we are delighted with this award, so I am looking at adding even more luxuries and facilities for our guests,
I am taking a short break to visit my children in Australia, but when we re-open mid Feb, we look forward to a busy year.
All the best to both of you for 2012.

Haven read about Moorfield Lodge. we decided to stay there when visiting Tyrone and Donegal last week, we were not disappointed.
From the time the gates opened @ the enterance to the drive, we drove into a different world. The house immediately says - welcome to the 5 star experience. We were met by Lynn @ reception who gave us a very warm welcome. We loved the feel of the house, the bedroom, the dining area where we had a delicious breakfast. We stayed two nights and hopefully will be back soon as it is truly a lovely place to stay. Thank you Lynn and Bobby for such great hospitality.

My husband and I stayed one night at the Moorfield Lodge back in October--it was wonderful! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary that week in Ireland. We stayed in the spa suite--a most luxurious and modern room, from the plush white carpet and slippers to the gigantic spa bathroom! Though we only got to stay one night, it was well worth it. And the breakfast the next morning was absolutely scrumptious...the best crepe I'd ever eaten! You can't go wrong at the Moorfield Lodge--you're in for a treat!

Thank you for your outstanding review on our Moorfield Lodge Boutique B&B - we are delighted that you both had such a great time here, albeit a short one! The Spa Suite is something else, isn't it !! but we recommend at least 2 night stays in this suite, to get the benefit of all it's features. We hope you will be sending all your friends from the USA to us - we love the Americans, and know how to spoil them!! Take care, and wishing you and yours a Blessed Christmas and beautiful New Year.
Thank you again - Oh, and today, after a sprinkling of snow last night, we are looking at a Winter Wonderland - it is gobsmakingly beautiful!!!! the sun is shining on the azure blue water with snow-capped mountains beyond - just gorgeous!

From the moment we arrived until the time we unfortunately had to leave, the hospitality offered by our hosts, Lin and Bobby, was first class and second to none. The property is stunning and the Spa Suite in particular offers a level of luxury that is hard to beat. The breakfast is absolutely great, whatever you choose to have, but do try the crepes as they are something special. Our hosts, it seemed, would go to any length to ensure our stay was as pleasureable as possible by suggesting places to visit, recommending and organising restaurant reservations for us and even inviting us to their local to see a great band. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. It takes the B&B experience to an entirely new and magical level. A real gem in Donegal's crown!

Room Tip: You cannot go wrong with the Spa Suite. A very special space.

I choose the Moorfield lodge to stay in during October. My boyfriend and i were celebrating our 6th anniversary together, we were both working so we couldn't go too far but we could of been miles away as the setting was just amazing. Don't be put off by the road close by as it just makes it really easy to get places, you can't hear or see a thing inside! We had a lovely warm reception from our hostess Lin despite being late ;) We were shown to our fabulous suite "The Spa Suite" before Lin gave us dinner recommendations, the Bridge bar in Ramelton lived up to them perfectly....
Our room was absolutely amazing and a must if you can splash out. The HUGE super king bed surpassed expectations in comfort and entertainment as we both thought the other had got out during the night there was that much room! The double ended spa bath was luxurious and even I wasn't put off by the spider lurking in the corner, swiftly put out by my boyfriend. Following a fabulous nights sleep we were privy to Lins amazing breakfast, i can recommend the scrambled eggs which were devine and also the crepes were just lovely. Overall there isn't one thing that I could fault with the Moorfield Lodge, it is simply a must for those looking for a stay in Donegal.

Hello Nicola, and thank you for your great review on our B&B. We are delighted you were so blown away with everything, including our breakfasts! For the benefit of those reading your review I thought it would be prudent to mention that we are located OFF the main road, on 5 acres of landscaped gardens with stunning views over Loch Swilly - you cannot see or hear the road from anywhere in the B&B, which is one of the reasons we decided to settle on this property at the time. We are very much a "country retreat" close to all emenities as you so rightly pointed out.
I am sorry about the wee spider in your Spa bath - I guess he was thirsty! He is the only little critter to have visited us, or that we have seen over the years, and I am sure he will not return.
Take care of yourselves, and we so look forward to your return visit.
All the best, Lin and Bobby
