“Excellent cottage”
Reviewed 17 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

My husband and myself with two friends from the USA spent a week in this cottage 23rd-30th April 2016. We found the cottage on our arrival well prepared for guests with the table set in the kitchen and fresh flowers. Everything was as promised and all mod cons in working order (not always the case in past rentals) microwave, cooker, fridge, dish washer, washing machine etc...kitchen fully equipped with all necessary utensils.
The two upstairs bedrooms are large with bathrooms ensuite and the downstairs bedroom has an unattached wetroom. Logs, coal etc.. provided for the stove in the sitting room which was very cosy on the few evenings we had cooler weather.

The cottage is in a quiet area only a couple of miles from Ramelton where there is a supermarket, bars and restaurant.

Although the cottage is still called "the Thatch" - since renovation it no longer has a thatched roof but this had no impact on our stay! Maybe the photo of the cottage needs updating and a new name. The owners Barry and John were very welcoming and helpful. So I'm sure they will see to this in time.

The cost of the week was very reasonable particularly as the heating etc.. was all included.

We all enjoyed our stay and would hope to return again some day.

“A wonderfully comfortable and cosy cottage”

This cottage is very comfortable, warm and spacious. It has everything that you could ever possibly need for a self-catering holiday. We thought that the attention to detail by the very welcoming hosts was very impressive. The cottage has a lovely warm stove in the living room and a very well-equipped kitchen with utility room. The bedrooms upstairs each have their own ensuite and the single bedroom downstairs has access to the wheelchair accessible shower room which is just off the kitchen/utility.

An ideal spot for a holiday base from which to explore Donegal's beautiful beaches and scenery.

“A Gem”
Reviewed 11 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

As soon as we arrived we we were delighted with this just beautiful comfortable warm cottage. We were made to feel so welcome by Barry, and also later in the week a knock on the door to see if we were okay from John. What a lovely caring family, having as many logs as we needed, with milk etc in the fridge for our use, on arrival. There were flowers in each room,a lovely touch. The situation is ideal for touring Donagal, with 1.5 hour drive to 'The Gaints Causeway'We are would thoroughly recommend this pretty cottage,a gem.

“Heaven is a place on Earth and its outside Ramelton !!”
Reviewed 11 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We stayed for two night and would struggle to find fault in any aspect of the break. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, they called to introduce themselves and to let us know if we needed anything just to shout.
There was plenty of wood for the fire and the heating was on when we arrived. The weather was great so we were out and about quite a bit but we could easily have spent the weekend indoors, if needed, we even found a deck of cards to play !
Could not recommend this place highly enough

“The Thatch”
Reviewed 4 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We are just back from an amazing week in the thatch at Ramelton. Fantastic and so relaxing. The owners were so helpful and friendly. They did everything to make us feel welcome, even decorating the house for the kids for Halloween. The house was so well equipped and cosy. All the fuel was included. Brilliant value for money. Cannot wait to return. Barry and John are wonderful hosts.
