My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and even though we stayed on a GrabOne deal we were treated so very well and had such a relaxing break. The hospitality received was second-to-none, all members of staff were efficient, friendly and polite and nothing was a bother. Our room was very clean and comfortable and well maintained throughout our stay. The food was fantastic at all times. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, you could not possibly be better looked after anywhere else. Thanks very much to everyone.

Stayed in the Strand on Monday and Tuesday 5th and 6th December and whilst it's off season, the weather being unseasonably mild, is a fantastic stopping off point for discovering Donegal. The staff there couldn't do enough for us and constantly went out of their ways to make us feel very welcome. We even ambled down to eat at a quite late 9.45 pm on the Tuesday but we were assured that it certainly wouldn't be a problem and the kitchen was kept open for us and like the previous night served up a fantastic and extremely large portioned early bird menu, brilliant value for money, super presentation and tasty as hell. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, gallons of hot water for the power showers or if the bath took your fancy instead. Ballyliffin isn't exactly huge either and the Strand is located smack dab in the middle with it's own car parking spaces which are free. I never even checked out wifi availability or anything like that as not only was it a break away from Dublin and hectic Christmas shoppers it was kind of a digital detox too stopping only to post beautiful pictures of Donegal on occasion on facebook to curry some envy. Will definitely return and am getting vouchers for family members so they can enjoy it also.

Room Tip: East facing rooms will have beautiful views of landscaped gardens, northern rooms will face Pollan s...

Had a great 2 day stay at the Strand Hotel. We were made to feel welcome from the check in to check out by the very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a family room and it was clean and very comfortable .The choice of food for breakfast was good and we had an excellent evening meal. Would stay here again and well definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.

We booked in for two days midweek and were made most welcome by friendly staff. The hotel was understandably quiet at this time of year, but the bar and meals were still fully operational. We had a very nice evening meal, with quick and courteous service. The room was clean and the bed comfy. All the usual services, TV, tea/coffee, local information etc. were on offer to a good standard. Breakfast was very nicely presented by friendly and obliging staff.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the car park, which was nonetheless very quiet.

I booked a double room for my sisters wedding and couldn't have been happier.
I only had one complaint and that was that when i was checking in i had to stand waiting at reception for 10-15 minutes. But in their defence the wedding guests had began to arrive so the staff was very busy.
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the day and evening. The meal was great, the soup was salted which was to my taste but this may not be to everyone's taste.

Well, what can i say.......
The strand said from the beginning that they would look after us and by god they did!!!
The day before the wedding i thought i would be rushed off my feet preparing for the wedding but was informed by johnny that whatever i wanted done they would do it! And they did a brilliant job......nothing was too much bother, all the staff were so friendly and helpful and i can honestly say they gave us the best day of our lives!
We had our ceremony in the breakfast room overlooking the sea and the dinner was absolutely beautiful.....my only regret is i couldn't finish it all!
We stayed the night after the wedding also and they were still looking after us and making sure we were happy and had everything we needed!
I felt so welcomed and relaxed i didn't want to leave.
I cannot recommend the strand and the staff highly enough for weddings or just a stay, Especially Neil, Katherine and johnny.....they really looked after us and made our day perfect!!
A massive thank you to you all! We will definitely be back for more of your hospitality x

You only get one chance to make a first impression and when I saw my room I was not a bit impressed. A small pokey room no 36. It had two overhead lights, neither of them working. Two bedside lights only one working. There was no knob on the radiator to turn it on or off. There was a tiny electric heater in the room. I am sorry I didn't take a picture of it. Let's just say. I would run a mile from this hotel if I was ever in Ballyliffin again.
