We stayed at cooneys hotel for the long weekend. I have to say it was an excellent stay once again. Staff we're very friendly on arrival & we were assisted to our bedroom. The room was extremely spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Saturday night had a meal in the court yard restaurant with some family from ballymahon. Food was exceptional quality. The bar was very lively and enjoyed both Saturday and Sunday nights entertainment. Overall, a sense of a well run establishment with high standards of service. Will most certainly recommend and will be returning.

Visited Cooney's last weekend with family and visiting family from UK. As a place to sit down and eat, Cooney's is pleasant enough and the staff are OK to be fair but the food we were served was very average and quite expensive for what it was. Two of the adults had the burger meal which came in at €12.95 by memory. The burger itself was thin and quite small with a rather sorry looking single piece of lettuce sitting on the top. The actual taste again was OK but for what we paid, it was pretty miserable. As a local, I would not recommend the food and I would not be in a rush to go back. Summary - could do a lot better!

I popped into to cooneys for breakfast last week within minutes the breakfast arrived and to be honest the eggs sausages and rashers seemed they were pre cooked and left sitting there under the hotlights the beans were cold overall the service was just ok, however i would not have breakfast there again.I found the owners are friendly and very welcoming. I did have dinner the week before and it was good.Cooneys is a fine establishment and is very clean. But the main st of Ballymahon is full of pot holes and can be very dirty with litter in places in fact it's the worst main st I have seen in any town and I travel around the country on a regular basis. I wouldn't recommend Ballymahon as a tourist destination in its present state

Dear george0551,

Thank you for your review. To clarify we pride ourselves on our good reputation for breakfast which is only cooked to order and never pre-cooked. In relation to the pot holes in Ballymahon I would ask that you take this issue up with the NRA.

Just passing by, called in and ordered a homemade burger. 55 minutes later the greasy little fellow arrived, dwarfed by a burt burger bun and sharing the plate with a few greasy onion rings. Homemade? Who knows, maybe some of the workers live in the processed burger factory. Rip off Ireland strikes again. A hard earned €13 I was parted with much to easy. No class, no attention to detail. Must do better. F-

Dear xtralong,

Thank you for your review. All our burgers are homemade and cooked to order. There is a 15-20 minute waiting time to ensure that the burger is cooked thoroughly.
